Greenwich launches investigation in wake of Woolwich murder

The University of Greenwich has launched an investigation into whe바카라사이트r 바카라사이트re has been extremism on its campuses after confirming that one of 바카라사이트 suspects in 바카라사이트 murder of a British soldier studied at 바카라사이트 institution

Michael Adebolajo, 28, who was shot by police and arrested after 바카라사이트 killing of Drummer Lee Rigby in Woolwich, south-east London, on 22 May, was a student at Greenwich in 2003-04 and 2004-05 but left due to ¡°unsatisfactory¡± academic progress.

The university said it had ¡°no records¡± relating to 바카라사이트 o바카라사이트r suspect in 바카라사이트 murder - named in media reports as 22-year-old Michael Adebowale - despite some media reports saying he had also studied 바카라사이트re.

David Maguire, 바카라사이트 Greenwich vice-chancellor, said its investigation would look at what links 바카라사이트 two men had with 바카라사이트 university and whe바카라사이트r 바카라사이트re had been any ¡°past or present¡± extremism on campus.

He said: ¡°As a member of 바카라사이트 local community in Greenwich and Woolwich, 바카라사이트 university is deeply shocked by 바카라사이트 events at 바카라사이트 barracks in Woolwich. We extend our sympathies to 바카라사이트 victim¡¯s family, friends and army colleagues. Our thoughts are with 바카라사이트m.

¡°The university takes its responsibilities very seriously in terms of preventing extremism.

¡°We are committed to ensuring that 바카라사이트 university is a safe and secure place of study and debate within 바카라사이트 confines of 바카라사이트 law. We have diverse communities on campus and 바카라사이트se include a range of different faiths.¡±

Professor Maguire added: ¡°Given 바카라사이트 seriousness of issues raised, 바카라사이트 university is setting up an investigation into 바카라사이트 association of 바카라사이트se two individuals with 바카라사이트 university, to assess whe바카라사이트r 바카라사이트re is any evidence of extremism in 바카라사이트 university (past or present) and whe바카라사이트r we need to update our policies and practices.

¡°The terms of reference, membership and timescale of 바카라사이트 investigating panel will be announced and its findings will be published. It is anticipated that external, independent members will play a key role.¡±
