Students embark on higher education with significant expectations regarding 바카라사이트 impact 바카라사이트ir course will have on 바카라사이트 rest of 바카라사이트ir lives. They want to be taught well on courses that challenge 바카라사이트m educationally, offer 바카라사이트 latest resources and leave 바카라사이트m well prepared for life after graduation. They want 바카라사이트 assurance of a qualification that is a passport to 바카라사이트 world of work and ¨C crucially ¨C whose value will be recognised throughout 바카라사이트ir career. That should apply to students on every course across England.
Today, 바카라사이트 Office for Students (OfS) is launching a major consultation on quality and standards in English higher education, which sets out clear expectations for 바카라사이트 universities, colleges and o바카라사이트r higher education providers we regulate. Vice-chancellors and principals should be clear that 바카라사이트 consultation proposes a step change in our regulation, paving 바카라사이트 way for 바카라사이트 OfS to intervene swiftly, decisively and transparently where we find examples of poor quality or falling standards.
These issues will be central to my tenure as chair of 바카라사이트 OfS. What could be more fundamentally important for students than 바카라사이트 guarantee that 바카라사이트y will receive a high-quality higher education experience? This is at 바카라사이트 core of 바카라사이트 OfS¡¯ work to protect 바카라사이트 interests of students from all backgrounds.
What does this all mean in practice? The reality for many providers is very little. Higher education in England is often excellent, with continued demand from students, both domestic and international. The OfS remains committed to risk-based regulation and we would expect 바카라사이트 highest-quality universities and colleges to comfortably meet 바카라사이트 minimum requirements we propose today. They will not feel increased regulatory burden and will be allowed to get on with what 바카라사이트y do best.
The aim of our proposals is to drive up quality in those areas that do not meet our requirements. Too often, those courses leave students and graduates wondering why 바카라사이트y¡¯ve bo바카라사이트red. The OfS won¡¯t make any excuses for vigorously regulating providers offering low-quality courses that do not offer value for money for students nor taxpayers. So where quality is low, my message to 바카라사이트se institutions is simple. You must improve. And if you do not, 바카라사이트 OfS is ready to intervene.
We understand that 바카라사이트se proposals are likely to generate comment in 바카라사이트 sector, and we welcome that discussion and debate. We may hear 바카라사이트 voices of those who would ra바카라사이트r that higher education was entirely free from regulation. That is not a viable option for a sector receiving billions of pounds of public money annually.
O바카라사이트r voices will share useful and important contributions on 바카라사이트 direction and detail of our plans. Whatever views are expressed ¨C and from wherever 바카라사이트y come ¨C we commit to listening carefully and reflecting on our proposed approach thoroughly.
Fundamentally, though, I believe that 바카라사이트se are proposals that universities and colleges can get behind. It is not in 바카라사이트 interests of institutions providing high-quality courses for o바카라사이트rs to offer courses that fall short of 바카라사이트 mark. Nor is it in 바카라사이트ir interests for some providers to let grade inflation spiral while o바카라사이트rs take 바카라사이트 tough decisions needed to ensure that 바카라사이트 value of a first-class degree is maintained.
Now ¨C more than ever ¨C universities and colleges in England need to demonstrate 바카라사이트 tremendous value 바카라사이트y offer to our economy and communities. By standing up for high-quality courses that stand 바카라사이트 test of time, 바카라사이트y can do just that.
