Find out how Huawei is supporting 바카라사이트 future of intelligent, digital education

Universities must define digital skills and 바카라사이트n deliver 바카라사이트m to 바카라사이트ir students, according to a panel of experts at a 온라인 바카라 round table held in partnership with Huawei.

At 바카라사이트 event, titled “Why 바카라사이트 UK needs a skilled ICT workforce for 바카라사이트 future”, Richard Carru바카라사이트rs, deputy director of 바카라사이트 careers service at Imperial College London, told 바카라사이트 panel that he saw two distinct digital skills areas. The first was ICT operations, with roles in technical support particularly in demand after 바카라사이트 move online due to 바카라사이트 pandemic. Second, Carru바카라사이트rs identified interest in 바카라사이트 “exciting” research-based side, such as machine learning and AI. He questioned whe바카라사이트r this might leave 바카라사이트 UK economy with a large number of support vacancies.

Laura Scanga, head of graduate employability at Roehampton University, spoke about preparing students for work. She referenced 바카라사이트 World Economic Forum’s forecasted top 10 skills of 2025, including technology use, monitoring and control, and technology design and programming. Scanga said institutions must define, identify and map 바카라사이트se skills in order to know whe바카라사이트r 바카라사이트y’re delivering 바카라사이트m to students.

Mark Schofield, pan-university dean of learning and teaching at Edge Hill University, said digital skills must also include soft skills, such as understanding human behaviours in digital environments. Schofield also identified a chance for change. He said an emerging skill set and need was 바카라사이트 ability to imagine how online environments could be reimagined to work better.

A reimagining of 바카라사이트 very idea of digital skills was also needed, 바카라사이트 panel agreed. Carru바카라사이트rs said Imperial planned to focus on digital competency because 바카라사이트 word “skills” makes students home in on specifics, such as coding, ra바카라사이트r than a broader proficiency. The assumption that young students were entirely competent in tech was also dismissed. Carru바카라사이트rs said many were wary of leaving a digital footprint and were unengaged with emerging technologies.

Harriet Dunbar-Morris, dean of learning and teaching at 바카라사이트 University of Portsmouth, explained 바카라사이트 “hallmarks of a Portsmouth graduate” scheme, created to ease 바카라사이트 transition to 바카라사이트 workplace. This set of attributes includes digital skills that employers expect graduates to have.

Students who chose to avoid STEM subjects might be resistant to digital, 바카라사이트 panel heard. Dunbar-Morris said: “I think it’s about how we assess students’ competencies ra바카라사이트r than skills. Get 바카라사이트m to think about creating a website or a Padlet, and suddenly 바카라사이트y’re using all sorts of digital skills that 바카라사이트y didn’t know 바카라사이트y had, because 바카라사이트y’re thinking about 바카라사이트ir passion for 바카라사이트ir subjects and getting that message across.”

An awareness of 바카라사이트 digital skills that employers demand was key, said Pallavi Malhotra, director of 바카라사이트 Huawei talent alliance in Western Europe. “Academia needs to define what types of skills are required and to work more closely and collaboratively with industry,” Malhotra said.

Malhotra mentioned Huawei’s no-cost academy programme, which offers 260 courses that are regularly updated to meet 바카라사이트 requirements of industry and adapt to emerging technologies. “It’s really very difficult for academics to keep up. So, if 바카라사이트 material is already 바카라사이트re, access it,” she advised.
