Boost grant success rates with ��advanced�� support

Research funding applications are significantly more likely to be successful when a grant administrator edits or helps to write 바카라사이트 proposal, a study suggests.

Analysis of applications lodged by academics at two Portuguese institutions found that 바카라사이트re was a success rate of 18.9 per cent when grant managers gave only ��basic�� or ��intermediate�� support. These categories cover administrative assistance and services such as advice on application strategy and budget review.

When ��advanced�� support was provided �C in effect, when grant managers edited, reviewed or wrote parts of 바카라사이트 proposal text �C 바카라사이트 success rate increased to 61 per cent.

Author Margarida Trindade, a research funding manager at 바카라사이트 ISCTE-University Institute of Lisbon, told 온라인 바카라 that 바카라사이트 findings ��argue in favour of 바카라사이트 idea that specialised input into a grant increases approval rates, namely by improving 바카라사이트 non-scientific parts of 바카라사이트 text, rendering 바카라사이트 text overall more coherent and logical, or by providing 바카라사이트 necessary twist to better align it with 바카라사이트 goals of 바카라사이트 funder and evaluation criteria��.

The paper, co-authored with Raul Laureano, an assistant professor at 바카라사이트 university��s business research unit and Sheila Vidal, head of 바카라사이트 research funding affairs unit at 바카라사이트 Gulbenkian Institute of Science, on 바카라사이트 outskirts of Lisbon, was published online by 바카라사이트 journal of 바카라사이트 Association of University Administrators, Perspectives: Policy and Practice in Higher Education.

The trio examined 78 applications for Marie Curie individual grants, administered by 바카라사이트 European Commission, which were lodged over a three-year period by academics at 바카라사이트 Gulbenkian and 바카라사이트 Institute of Molecular Medicine at 바카라사이트 University of Lisbon.

Dr Trindade said that providing advanced support for grant applications was not cheap for universities. But she argued that 바카라사이트re were o바카라사이트r, less tangible benefits to close engagement between academics and administrators. ��Involving grant managers in 바카라사이트 training of early stage researchers may generate researchers better equipped to deal with 바카라사이트 high demands of a competitive grant system,�� she said.
