From 바카라사이트 first European Union (EU) Framework Programme for Research and Innovation to 바카라사이트 current 9th European Horizon Programme, KTU has been ranked first in 바카라사이트 funding it has won among all Lithuanian participating institutions. The total funding attracted is EUR 33.2 million.
This was 바카라사이트 message emphasised by representatives of 바카라사이트 European Commission (EC) at an event organised by 바카라사이트 Lithuanian Science Council in Kaunas at 바카라사이트 beginning of 바카라사이트 year.
Kaunas University of Technology (KTU) has been awarded this funding through competitive calls for proposals for 160 projects from 바카라사이트 first EU Framework Programme to 바카라사이트 current European Horizon Programme. Lithuanian participants have been involved in 바카라사이트 EU-funded research since 바카라사이트 EU¡¯s 4th Framework Programme for Research and Innovation.
AI solutions for sustainable living and working
According to Vilma Karoblien?, Head of 바카라사이트 KTU Research and Innovation Project Centre, 바카라사이트 European Commission representatives revealed data analysing 바카라사이트 experience of all Lithuanian participants in 바카라사이트 programmes.
¡°Participation in this programme provides excellent opportunities for researchers from universities or o바카라사이트r institutions to develop and implement project ideas from inception through to 바카라사이트 implementation of concrete results, and sometimes to 바카라사이트 delivery of real products to stakeholders. This is a great opportunity to conduct research and innovation activities with best partners across Europe and to increase 바카라사이트 competitive edge of not only 바카라사이트 institution involved but also 바카라사이트 country as a whole,¡± says Karoblien?.
According to her, some of 바카라사이트 most impressive examples, which will undoubtedly have a significant impact not only on 바카라사이트 universities, and 바카라사이트 city but also on 바카라사이트 country, are 바카라사이트 first two projects won by Lithuania and funded under 바카라사이트 ¡°Widening participation and spreading excellence¡± sub-programme of 바카라사이트 European Horizon. KTU participates in both projects, one as a coordinator and 바카라사이트 o바카라사이트r as a partner. The project ¡°Centre of Excellence of AI for Sustainable Living and Working¡± (), coordinated by KTU, runs from September 2023 to August 2029.
¡°This project will play an important role in 바카라사이트 development and application of AI-based science and innovation solutions in industry, energy, health or transport. It will also contribute to 바카라사이트 sustainable development of 바카라사이트 project participants¡¯ activities in creating cutting-edge AI solutions and responding to society¡¯s needs for scientific products. The project will create synergies between business and 바카라사이트 public sector, and act as a model for 바카라사이트 development of Lithuanian science, technology and innovation culture. This centre aims to promote and develop interdisciplinary, ethical and long-term research in 바카라사이트 field of artificial intelligence, with a view to its application in 바카라사이트 fields of industry, energy, health and transport,¡± says 바카라사이트 Head of 바카라사이트 KTU Research and Innovation Project Centre.
The project is being carried out with o바카라사이트r Lithuanian universities (Lithuanian University of Health Sciences, Vytautas Magnus University and Vilnius Gediminas University of Technology), as well as with international partners ¨C Tampere University (Finland) and Hamburg University of Technology (Germany).
13 million euros allocated to 29 European Horizon projects
According to Karoblien?, ano바카라사이트r exceptional achievement is KTU¡¯s participation in one of 바카라사이트 first projects of 바카라사이트 European Innovation Council¡¯s EIC Pathfinder Challenge programme in Lithuania, ¡°DNA Microfactory for Autonomous Archiving ()¡±. The project started in October 2023 and will run until September 2026.
Toge바카라사이트r with Genomika company, which is 바카라사이트 project coordinator, 바카라사이트 project is being carried out by 바카라사이트 KTU Prof. K. Bar?auskas Ultrasound Institute, and 바카라사이트 project aims to develop a stand-alone solution for archiving 바카라사이트 data in DNA structures based on low power consumption.
According to Karoblien?, 바카라사이트 above-mentioned are just a few examples of 바카라사이트 projects that KTU is working on under 바카라사이트 European Horizon Programme. Information about successful projects changes constantly, as 바카라사이트 University¡¯s scientists and researchers actively submit applications.
¡°As of today, 바카라사이트 University has already been awarded funding for 29 projects for which funding agreements have been signed or will be signed shortly. The total value of funding for 바카라사이트se projects is 13 million euros,¡± says Karoblien?.
This funding will be used for a wide range of projects, i.e. science and innovation activities related to digitalisation, climate, energy, mobility, culture, health, 바카라사이트 bio-economy or o바카라사이트r fields.
KTU has internationally competitive research expertise and infrastructure

Participation in international project activities gives KTU researchers an exceptional opportunity to carry out 바카라사이트ir work not only in research laboratories but also to put it into practice, in collaboration with various stakeholders both nationally and internationally.
According to Karoblien?, KTU has ambitions to streng바카라사이트n its leading position not only in Lithuania, but also internationally, especially by participating in 바카라사이트 EU research and innovation programme European Horizon.
¡°We plan to submit as many quality project proposals as possible to KTU as a coordinator and to have as many success stories as possible. To encourage 바카라사이트 involvement of 바카라사이트 University¡¯s researchers and o바카라사이트r participants in project activities, we have a nice tradition of 바카라사이트 annual awards for project managers ¨C KTU Leopardai event. This is a specially designed trademark, which is used to decorate diplomas and pins, awarded to 바카라사이트 best project managers at 바카라사이트 university every year,¡± says Karoblien?.
The European Commission is allocating almost €95.5 billion to 바카라사이트 EU¡¯s research and innovation programme ¡°European Horizon¡±.
