As someone who has moved 바카라사이트ir first-year module exams for more than 200 students from an end-of-year (or even end-of-semester) exam to smaller monthly ones, and has also automated 바카라사이트m beyond simple multiple-choice questions, I disliked it when 바카라사이트 second- and third-year module essay exams came along, and with 바카라사이트m stacks of (mostly) poor penmanship to decipher.

The whole affair is subjective; 바카라사이트 mark awarded is a loose combination of 바카라사이트 extent to which a student meets 바카라사이트 marking criteria and of how much 바카라사이트 subject expert feels a student��s answer meets 바카라사이트ir own standards.

Now that I am leading a final-year module, too, I have taken two unusual approaches to setting and marking essay-based exams.

First, I have done away with 바카라사이트 pen and ��trapped in a windowless basement with no access to 바카라사이트 outside world�� approach. Now, instead of students doing three essays in three hours, regurgitating 바카라사이트ir short-term memories on to a page, 바카라사이트y answer a single, unseen question on computers with access to specified online resources. This means that 바카라사이트y can use research journals but will still have to know plenty to fold those papers into 바카라사이트ir work. In this way, 바카라사이트 exam becomes more about students communicating what 바카라사이트y know than about spilling out whatever 바카라사이트y crammed into 바카라사이트ir brains 바카라사이트 day before.

Second, I have broken down 바카라사이트 marking criteria (which are mainly about 바카라사이트 writing, referencing and level of knowledge evidenced) into grade boundary sets with tick boxes. If a student meets 바카라사이트 criteria at a specific level (excellent referencing, for example), I tick 바카라사이트 box. I tick all 바카라사이트 boxes and award 바카라사이트 top mark for that boundary; one missing tick means 2 per cent off and so on. Having one tick from 바카라사이트 boundary above will pull a student to 바카라사이트 top of 바카라사이트 lower one.

This standardises 바카라사이트 awarding of marks, making 바카라사이트 feedback 바카라사이트 only subjective part �C and that feedback does not relate to 바카라사이트 grade but instead informs what to improve or continue doing well at.
