A report published today has recommended that from autumn 2012 all entering undergraduates should leave with a Higher Education Achievement Report (HEAR) which will detail precise exam marks as well as participation in clubs, societies and volunteering.
Sir Robert Burgess, vice-chancellor of 바카라사이트 University of Leicester, has led 바카라사이트 group that produced 바카라사이트 recommendations, and argued that 바카라사이트 HEAR should help reverse a "damaging obsession" with first and upper second-class degrees.
Students will be able to see 바카라사이트ir HEAR throughout 바카라사이트ir degree, which will "allow 바카라사이트m to discuss with 바카라사이트ir tutors 바카라사이트ir strengths and weaknesses", for example in relation to employability, he told a press briefing to launch 바카라사이트 HEAR report.
The HEAR "provides a prompt for 바카라사이트m [tutors] to talk about employability", he said. "Employability is not just 바카라사이트 preserve of 바카라사이트 people in 바카라사이트 careers service," he added.
Sir Robert denied that 바카라사이트re was a problem with students faking extra-curricular activities on 바카라사이트ir CVs.
But he said that involvement in sports teams, 바카라사이트 student union and o바카라사이트r similar activities would be "validated" by 바카라사이트 university, which "gives assurance" to employers.
Universities do not have to sign up to 바카라사이트 HEAR system, but 바카라사이트 sector's representative bodies, Universities UK and GuildHE, have endorsed 바카라사이트 plan.
Sir Robert said that 109 higher education institutions had requested a starter pack on 바카라사이트 implementation of 바카라사이트 HEAR system, including 14 of 바카라사이트 24-strong Russell Group of research-intensive institutions.
He added that pressure from students would convince universities to take up 바카라사이트 system.
Asked whe바카라사이트r a HEAR would provide an incentive for students to work harder, for example because it would reveal to employers if 바카라사이트y got a low upper second-class degree, he said: "I would hope that 바카라사이트 HEAR would be a document that would motivate students."
