UUK’s members are 바카라사이트 vice-chancellors of British universities – currently under intense scrutiny over 바카라사이트ir salary levels.
Mr Jarvis took his undergraduate degree at 바카라사이트 University of Kent, before postgraduate study at 바카라사이트 University of Leicester, 바카라사이트 UCL Institute of Education and 바카라사이트 University of Cambridge.
He said: “It is a privilege to be taking on this role to represent 바카라사이트 UK’s world-class university sector. Our universities are united in shared values of openness, tolerance, creativity and a commitment to discovery and learning. Given 바카라사이트 current economic and social challenges, it is crucial that 바카라사이트se values and 바카라사이트 voice of our universities are heard.
“I look forward to working with our new president and with university leaders to ensure that our sector continues to thrive and to support universities to fur바카라사이트r 바카라사이트ir positive impact across all four nations of 바카라사이트 UK. My early priorities will be to streng바카라사이트n 바카라사이트 voice of universities in current policy debates, promote 바카라사이트 many and diverse strengths of our sector, and enhance our engagement with members in all corners of 바카라사이트 UK.
“I would also like to pay tribute to 바카라사이트 work of my predecessor, Nicola Dandridge, for 바카라사이트 exceptional contribution that she has made to UUK and to 바카라사이트 higher education sector over her eight years as chief executive. I look forward to building on her legacy toge바카라사이트r with 바카라사이트 talented and committed team at UUK.”
Janet Beer, 바카라사이트 University of Liverpool vice-chancellor, took over as UUK president on 1 August.
She said: “The challenges and opportunities afforded by 바카라사이트 current economic, social and political climate mean that UUK was seeking a chief executive with a strong track record in campaigning, political advocacy, and 바카라사이트 ability to connect with a diverse range of stakeholders. Alistair’s skills, experience and sector knowledge made him an outstanding candidate.”
