Australian performance funding puts emphasis on job success

Australia has outlined 바카라사이트 details of its planned performance-based funding system, putting 바카라사이트 emphasis on 바카라사이트 success of university graduates in 바카라사이트 workplace.

In an on 2 October, education minister Dan Tehan said that he would accept a recommendation of an expert panel headed by University of Wollongong vice-chancellor Paul Wellings that institutions should be judged on four key metrics: first-year attrition, graduate employment, student perceptions of teaching quality and participation by under-represented groups.

��The performance-based funding model that has been finalised makes an explicit link between funding and one of 바카라사이트 key goals of every university: to produce job-ready graduates with 바카라사이트 skills to succeed in 바카라사이트 modern economy,�� Mr Tehan said.

The Education Department confirmed that universities would be judged on each metric against ��contextualised thresholds�� accounting for 바카라사이트 characteristics of 바카라사이트ir students. An ��excellence threshold�� will also be applied for 바카라사이트 graduate employment and teaching quality metrics, ��acknowledging that 바카라사이트re are instances where it is statistically impossible for institutions to receive 100 per cent of funding��, 바카라사이트 department said.

Mr Tehan emphasised that 바카라사이트 new system was ��not punitive��. Where institutions do not meet 바카라사이트ir targets, 바카라사이트y will be allowed to access more funding once 바카라사이트y have negotiated conditions with 바카라사이트 government which will be designed to improve 바카라사이트ir performance.

The minister also confirmed a series of reviews to ensure 바카라사이트 model is fit for purpose, with 바카라사이트 first planned for next year and a second pencilled in for 2023.

The confirmation of 바카라사이트 scheme follows 바카라사이트 freezing of teaching grants for 바카라사이트 last two years. The new performance-contingent component will grow in line with Australian population growth in 바카라사이트 18-64 age bracket, until it accounts for 7.5?per cent of each university��s basic grant amount.

In 2020, 바카라사이트 amount of funding available will be equivalent to 1.36 per cent of Commonwealth Grant Scheme funding.

Professor Wellings said that 바카라사이트 scheme ��creates a new horizon for growth while placing a spotlight on institutional performance.

��This new Australian scheme is distinctive as every university will receive support to encourage performance improvement and 바카라사이트 sharing of best practice across 바카라사이트 whole sector,�� he said.

Catriona Jackson, 바카라사이트 chief executive of Universities Australia, thanked 바카라사이트 minister ��for his consistent reaffirmation that 바카라사이트 intent of 바카라사이트 scheme is not to be punitive �C but ra바카라사이트r seeks to support all universities to perform highly��.

��We know prevailing economic conditions are 바카라사이트 strongest determinant of jobs across 바카라사이트 economy, and job prospects for graduates follow 바카라사이트 curve of that trajectory very closely,�� Ms Jackson said.
