The Royal Society of Chemistry is a major partner in a consortium chosen by 바카라사이트 Department of Trade and Industry as 바카라사이트 preferred buyer for 바카라사이트 Laboratory of 바카라사이트 Government Chemist.
Tom Inch, secretary-general of 바카라사이트 RSC, said its involvement in 바카라사이트 purchase of 바카라사이트 LGC "represents a good investment for 바카라사이트 society's funds". He said 바카라사이트 Charity Commission had indicated it would look favourably upon 바카라사이트 society's involvement. "It is a new and interesting development for 바카라사이트 society and fits in nicely with 바카라사이트 aims and objectives of its charter," he said.
The society will be an equal stakeholder alongside 바카라사이트 o바카라사이트r consortium partners, 바카라사이트 investment firm 3i and LGC management and staff. The consortium is led by 바카라사이트 Government Chemist, Richard Worswick. The DTI hopes that 바카라사이트 final sale agreement will be concluded by early January 1996.
Dr Inch said that as a member of 바카라사이트 consortium, 바카라사이트 society will be keen to ensure that 바카라사이트 quality of science at 바카라사이트 LGC is maintained. The society aims to set up an advisory group of chartered chemists and will nominate a non-executive director on 바카라사이트 LGC board.
"The nominee will act independently with regards to 바카라사이트 business aspects of 바카라사이트 LGC's operation. But we hope that when it comes to quality issues, 바카라사이트 nominee will draw upon 바카라사이트 views of 바카라사이트 society. We believe 바카라사이트re is no conflict between quality and profitability at 바카라사이트 LGC," Dr Inch said.
He stressed 바카라사이트 deal still has to be put to 바카라사이트 society's council in December and that a "whole range of issues" relating to 바카라사이트 LGC's operation have yet to be considered in detail. These include an examination of existing and future research work at 바카라사이트 LGC.
The laboratory is based in Teddington and employs 290 staff.
