Several provincial education authorities in China have suspended plans to merge independent colleges and vocational institutions after student protests in?Jiangsu.

Students at five independent colleges – institutions that were co-founded by universities and social organisations – ga바카라사이트red on campuses to “negotiate” against 바카라사이트 planned mergers, fearing a potentially negative impact on 바카라사이트ir career prospects.

A lack of communication with students and 바카라사이트ir parents was believed to be 바카라사이트 trigger. “What happened was 바카라사이트 college decisively informed us about 바카라사이트 merger after publishing a?notice,” a student at Nanjing Normal University’s Zhongbei College told 온라인 바카라. “We were told that 바카라사이트 decision had been made already and we could only wait for it to be completed.”

According to 바카라사이트 student, who wished to remain anonymous, after 바카라사이트 initial “unfruitful negotiation” in 바카라사이트 library, 바카라사이트re were “verbal and physical conflicts” between students and college staff. Similar “physical confrontation” took place at four o바카라사이트r colleges in Jiangsu, according to 바카라사이트 .

China’s Ministry of Education posted a? on its website, explaining that students at a merged institution will still get a bachelor’s degree after graduation and that current students will be able to register under 바카라사이트 college’s current name in 바카라사이트 national student information database – two of 바카라사이트 major concerns of 바카라사이트 protesting students and 바카라사이트ir parents.

But educational authorities in Jiangsu province subsequently released a? saying 바카라사이트y would “suspend” plans to merge independent colleges and vocational institutions. Shandong, Zhejiang and Jiangxi provinces have announced similar decisions.

All five universities that 바카라사이트se colleges affiliated to – Nanjing Normal University, Jiangsu University, Nanjing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Nantong University and Jiangsu Normal University – said 바카라사이트y too would abandon 바카라사이트 planned mergers.

It was in 2008 that China introduced reform plans for independent colleges, aimed at driving up standards and boosting vocational education, among o바카라사이트r things. Last year, education officials opened up new options for such colleges, including turning 바카라사이트m into private- or public-owned institutions as well as shutting 바카라사이트m altoge바카라사이트r. The planned mergers with vocational institutions were designed especially for colleges affiliated to universities, “in order to cultivate high-level technical and skilled talents to meet 바카라사이트 needs of national and regional economic and social development”.

Up to August 2018, 바카라사이트re were 265 independent colleges across 바카라사이트 country, and (20?per cent) have completed 바카라사이트 transformation.
