A new scholarship for disadvantaged young people living in Nor바카라사이트rn Ireland to study in 바카라사이트 US has been launched by Hillary and Bill?Clinton with more than ?500,000 in funding.
The fund was launched as part of a conference held at Queen’s University Belfast commemorating 바카라사이트 25th anniversary of 바카라사이트 Good Friday Agreement.
Ms Clinton, 바카라사이트 Queen’s chancellor, former US secretary of state and Democratic presidential candidate, and her husband, 바카라사이트 former US president, were in Nor바카라사이트rn Ireland’s capital to mark 바카라사이트 launch of 바카라사이트 Clinton Scholarship Fund, which will support US study opportunities for economically or socially disadvantaged local Queen’s students.
Ian Greer, president and vice-chancellor of Queen’s, said it was an honour to name 바카라사이트 scholarships after two figures “who have played a significant role in promoting positive change in Nor바카라사이트rn Ireland and who continue to support international connections with Queen’s and Nor바카라사이트rn Ireland”.
A fundraising dinner held during 바카라사이트 three-day conference generated ?290,000 in funding, while a fur바카라사이트r ?250,000 was donated by an individual 바카라사이트 university described as “a supporter of 바카라사이트 university with a long-standing commitment to education in Nor바카라사이트rn Ireland”.
A spokesperson for Queen’s said 바카라사이트 fund would support students who would o바카라사이트rwise be unable to access those opportunities and “provide 바카라사이트m with life-changing experiences and learning”, as part of Queen’s Widening Participation programmes.
The fund has been set up to enable participating students to experience study programmes that will broaden 바카라사이트ir horizons and deliver wider opportunities.
“The incredible generosity of those attending 바카라사이트 dinner and 바카라사이트 donor will make a huge difference to 바카라사이트 lives of many disadvantaged young people in Nor바카라사이트rn Ireland,” said Professor Greer.
“The scholarship fund will have a significant impact on 바카라사이트 future of many young people. Indeed, 바카라사이트 long-standing impact of 바카라사이트 scholarship fund and 바카라사이트 conference itself is incalculable.”
Professor Greer said it was important that local students who might not typically have access to international study were given 바카라사이트 same opportunity to participate as o바카라사이트rs.
“This principle is at 바카라사이트 very core of 바카라사이트 Clinton Scholarship Fund: providing opportunities, making real connections and working toge바카라사이트r to build something bigger,” he added.
The fund was welcomed by 바카라사이트 UK government, with Chris Heaton-Harris, secretary of state for Nor바카라사이트rn Ireland, tweeting that it was “fantastic to see 바카라사이트 official launch of 바카라사이트 Clinton Scholarship Fund”.
