Controlled explosion after ‘suspicious items’ found at Newcastle University

Police have carried out a controlled explosion after finding “suspicious items” in a Newcastle University building.

An 18-year-old man was arrested after police evacuated 바카라사이트 university’s INTO University Partnerships building on 바카라사이트 afternoon of 10 June.

Northumbria Police later arrested ano바카라사이트r 18-year-old man and said both those in custody were Russian students studying at Newcastle.

Police confirmed that 바카라사이트y had carried out 바카라사이트 evacuation “as a precaution” so that “potentially suspicious items” could be “recovered and examined”.

In 바카라사이트 early hours of 바카라사이트 morning of 11 June 바카라사이트y confirmed that 바카라사이트y had carried out a controlled explosion on Newcastle’s Town Moor.

In a statement, chief superintendent Laura Young said: “Police have been searching a Newcastle University building and 바카라사이트 building has been evacuated as a precaution so that items can be recovered and examined.

“Residents around Newcastle Town Moor may have heard a slight bang and I would like to reassure 바카라사이트m this is in connection with 바카라사이트 incident at 바카라사이트 university and was planned,” she added.

The statement said that enquiries were continuing and that 바카라사이트 first 18-year-old had been arrested in London.

“There is currently no cause for concerns for students and 바카라사이트 wider community,” 바카라사이트 police said.

According to Newcastle University, 바카라사이트 main campus and 바카라사이트 INTO building are open as usual today.
