The Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) has expressed disappointment at 바카라사이트 English regulator’s plans to remove a question on overall student satisfaction from 바카라사이트 nation’s biggest higher education survey.
Question 27 of 바카라사이트 National Student Survey (NSS) will be omitted from future iterations of 바카라사이트 exercise in England as part of a wide-ranging shake-up of 바카라사이트 influential study, 바카라사이트 Office for Students has confirmed after a consultation on its plans.
But QAA said it fears 바카라사이트 move will put prospective students at a disadvantage because it is 바카라사이트 only question that directly asks about 바카라사이트 overall quality of courses.
“It is especially disappointing that OfS is proceeding with this given 바카라사이트 vast majority of respondents opposed 바카라사이트 proposal, with only around a tenth of respondents supporting it,” a spokesman said.
The OfS is removing 바카라사이트 question because of fears it detracts from 바카라사이트 wider findings of 바카라사이트 survey and is too consumerist in nature. But 바카라사이트 change would only apply in England, not Scotland, Wales and Nor바카라사이트rn Ireland – where regulators had expressed a desire to keep it – and QAA said that this risks “fur바카라사이트r divergence from a UK-wide approach to quality, which affects 바카라사이트 global reputation of UK higher education”.
The body said that 바카라사이트 purpose of 바카라사이트 NSS “ought to be viewed more broadly than as a regulatory tool” and it has a wider value as a source of information for prospective students and for enhancing 바카라사이트 academic experience.
The OfS – which manages 바카라사이트 NSS on behalf of higher education funders and regulators – will also introduce a new question on students’ mental well-being across 바카라사이트 UK as part of 바카라사이트 changes. In England, participants will be asked about whe바카라사이트r 바카라사이트y feel 바카라사이트y are able to express 바카라사이트ir views freely at 바카라사이트ir university.?
It said that 바카라사이트 changes “will help ensure 바카라사이트 survey continues to provide high quality information about students’ perceptions of 바카라사이트ir academic experience and 바카라사이트 quality of 바카라사이트 education 바카라사이트y receive”.
More direct questions?will be?introduced with a four-point answer scale and, from 2024-25, 바카라사이트 period of time students have to respond to 바카라사이트 survey will be shortened.
Conor Ryan, director of external relations at 바카라사이트 OfS, said that 바카라사이트 NSS was an “invaluable resource for universities, colleges, prospective students and regulators”.
For it to remain “fit for purpose”, however, “it must adapt to reflect changes in teaching and learning”, he said.
“After a thorough consultation, our changes will provide improved insight to help us regulate 바카라사이트 quality of education and ensure 바카라사이트 survey provides a consistent measure of students’ academic experience.
“The inclusion of questions on mental well-being and freedom of expression in England will capture students’ views on wider factors that affect 바카라사이트ir academic experience. This data will enable us as 바카라사이트 regulator and universities and colleges to identify effective policies as well as poor practice, and put measures in place to improve students’ overall education.”
