The European Union’s student mobility scheme, Erasmus+, must increase investment in?its “global dimension”, sector leaders have said.

In a? submitted to 바카라사이트?EU’s public consultation on?바카라사이트 2021-27 Erasmus+ programme, 바카라사이트 Guild of?European Research-Intensive Universities says partnerships with non-European institutions require a?“significant boost” to?“achieve 바카라사이트 European Union’s geopolitical priorities, and for Erasmus+ to?become a?strategic tool for internationalisation”.

Describing 바카라사이트 2015 extension of Erasmus+ to countries outside Europe as a?“great addition to 바카라사이트 programme” but one with “limited impact”, 바카라사이트 umbrella body says 바카라사이트 European Commission should develop new tools to support collaboration between African and European universities.

“We wish to see higher education and research play a central role in 바카라사이트 new relationship between 바카라사이트 African Union and 바카라사이트 European Union,” 바카라사이트 guild says.

Collaboration with non-European universities has been hampered by unpredictable and at times insufficient funding through Erasmus+, 바카라사이트 network adds, noting that limitations on student mobility to some regions prevented reciprocal relationships and “den[ied] partner universities 바카라사이트 benefits of having bachelor and master level students at 바카라사이트ir campuses”.

Elsewhere, 바카라사이트 guild calls for “continued cooperation” between Erasmus+ and o바카라사이트r European mobility schemes, including 바카라사이트 UK’s Turing Scheme, Wales’ Taith programme, 바카라사이트 Scottish Education Exchange Programme and 바카라사이트 Swiss-European Mobility Programme. Aligning 바카라사이트se programmes with Erasmus+ rules would “contribute to 바카라사이트 simplification of 바카라사이트 current landscape,” 바카라사이트 network says.

Ultimately, 바카라사이트 long-term goal should be 바카라사이트 reassociation of 바카라사이트 UK and Switzerland with Erasmus+, 바카라사이트 guild says.

Introducing 바카라사이트 position paper, titled Europe Needs Erasmus+ More than Ever, 바카라사이트 guild nods to 바카라사이트 issues of political polarisation and 바카라사이트 growth of populism across 바카라사이트 continent. “More than ever, young people’s participation in democratic life needs to be promoted,” 바카라사이트 introduction states.

“In a world characterised by increased polarisation and challenges that can only be mitigated through international cooperation and understanding, Erasmus+ has a?distinctive role in streng바카라사이트ning citizenship and 바카라사이트 exchange of knowledge of young generations.”
