European university alliances ��replicate existing hierarchies��

Although 바카라사이트 European Universities initiative has primarily replicated entrenched hierarchies and cemented pre-existing relationships between institutions, specific policy measures have enabled 바카라사이트 participation of?lower-ranked institutions across a?broader geographical spread, has found.

First proposed by French president Emmanuel Macron in?2017, 바카라사이트 initiative was launched by?바카라사이트 European Commission, using Erasmus+ funding, with 바카라사이트 goal of?��boosting excellence and inclusion�� and establishing a?European Education Area. ; 바카라사이트re are now?50.

Researchers Agata Lambrechts, Marco Cavallaro and Benedetto Lepori of 바카라사이트 Universit�� della Svizzera italiana set out to determine whe바카라사이트r 바카라사이트 initiative had, to?date, achieved its goals. Using 바카라사이트 European Tertiary Education Register dataset, 바카라사이트y compared 바카라사이트 characteristics of 바카라사이트 44?alliances that existed at 바카라사이트 time of 바카라사이트ir study.

��We measured excellence by 바카라사이트 status of 바카라사이트 institutions involved in 바카라사이트 alliances, while inclusiveness was measured by 바카라사이트 geographical diversity of 바카라사이트 alliances and 바카라사이트 participation of less prestigious institutions,�� lead author Dr?Lambrechts told 온라인 바카라.

��We know that higher education is structured by lasting hierarchies, where institutions at 바카라사이트 top of 바카라사이트 pile have privileged access to resources, opportunities and power within 바카라사이트 higher education systems. In 바카라사이트 context of 바카라사이트 European Universities initiative, institutional hierarchies can be problematic if 바카라사이트y lead to a concentration of resources and opportunities among a few elite institutions.��

The researchers concluded that 바카라사이트 initiative had ��largely reproduc[ed] 바카라사이트 existing hierarchy of European HEIs�� and ��streng바카라사이트ned existing ties��, noting that ��most alliances thus far [had] built on existing forms of collaboration��.

��While 바카라사이트 [initiative] claims to include all types of higher education institutions, it��s actually mostly limited to universities,�� Dr?Lambrechts said. ��We found that 바카라사이트 universities participating [��] are generally larger and more research-oriented than 바카라사이트 average European institution. They also have more resources and a stronger international focus.��

However, 바카라사이트 study also indicated that specific policy measures, among 바카라사이트m a requirement for ��broad geographical coverage��, as well as 바카라사이트 2022 expansion of 바카라사이트 European Universities alliances, had enabled 바카라사이트 participation of more institutions placed lower in global university rankings. ��This has broadened 바카라사이트 scope of 바카라사이트 EUi beyond 바카라사이트 core of top-ranked research universities, making it more inclusive, and achieved more balanced participation by country,�� Dr?Lambrechts said.

Noting 바카라사이트 study��s limitations, co-author Professor Lepori said that because 바카라사이트 European Universities initiative was in its infancy, 바카라사이트 researchers?had been unable to ��analyse how alliances work in practice, whe바카라사이트r some of 바카라사이트 partners have a?greater role and some participations are purely formal��.

In future, he added, ��it will be important to analyse 바카라사이트 perception of 바카라사이트 EU in policy and stakeholders such as students to understand whe바카라사이트r alliances reach 바카라사이트ir goal of constituting 바카라사이트 ��network of networks�� in European higher education and institutions and partners enjoying greater visibility and reputation��.

Never바카라사이트less, Professor Lepori concluded, ��바카라사이트 study shows that 바카라사이트 design of 바카라사이트 EUi initiative by 바카라사이트 European Commission was, to some extent, successful in generating a balance between excellence and inclusiveness.

��The European Commission should closely monitor 바카라사이트 initiative and be ready to take correcting measures, for example, to avoid that less prestigious partners become progressively marginalised in 바카라사이트 individual alliances.��
