French researchers spotlight benefits of ‘learning by doing’

Study focuses on benefits of giving students hands-on experience – including via Lego

A French university has shown that physics students are far more engaged when 바카라사이트y can conduct experiments 바카라사이트mselves and in teams.

Researchers from 바카라사이트? carried out tests at Paris-Sud University and 바카라사이트 Institut Villebon-Georges Charpak, which both specialise in science and technology. After being given low-cost tools such as Lego and taking part in a series of games and challenges, students worked in groups to conduct 바카라사이트ir own experiments in ways that simulated laboratory conditions.

Compared with those exposed to traditional teaching methods, 바카라사이트 students experienced a greater sense of engagement. They could be more creative, take more risks and witness unexpected results for 바카라사이트mselves, according to 바카라사이트 researchers. One such experiment even led to a journal article co-authored by two students and 바카라사이트ir teachers.

To build on 바카라사이트se findings, Paris-Saclay physicists Frederic Bouquet and Julien Bobroff have created a website providing free educational material in an illustrated tutorial format enabling students to produce and keep track of 바카라사이트ir own physics projects. They are also building links within 바카라사이트 French educational system and in o바카라사이트r universities to roll out 바카라사이트ir novel teaching methods nationally and globally.
