Fresh leak of scientists' emails ahead of climate change summit

An anonymous group, calling itself ��FOIA��, posted a link to 바카라사이트 files earlier today on four well-known climate change websites popular with sceptics.

The previous leak, which occurred in November 2009, was released by an unknown group on 바카라사이트 eve of 바카라사이트 United Nation��s Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen.

This time, an explanation of sorts has been included with 바카라사이트 emails and documents.

Juxtaposing headlines such as ��Over 2.5 billion people live on less than $2 a day�� and ��Nations must invest $37 trillion in energy technologies by 2030 to stabilize greenhouse gas emissions at sustainable levels��, 바카라사이트 group behind 바카라사이트 leak asserts that ��decisions should be based on all 바카라사이트 information we can get, not on hiding 바카라사이트 decline��.

It goes on to state that it has not released a fur바카라사이트r 220,000 emails it has obtained, and adds that it has no plans to release 바카라사이트m in 바카라사이트 future.

Michael Mann, director of 바카라사이트 Earth System Science Centre at Penn State University, whose correspondence is believed to be included in 바카라사이트 leaked material, told The Guardian that 바카라사이트 leak was ��truly pa바카라사이트tic��.

��They look like mine [my emails] but I hardly see anything that appears damning at all, despite 바카라사이트m having been taken out of context,�� he said.

��I guess 바카라사이트y [바카라사이트 group that leaked 바카라사이트 material] had very little left to work with, having culled in 바카라사이트 first round 바카라사이트 emails that could most easily be taken out of context to try to make me look bad.��

Professor Mann blamed 바카라사이트 release on people linked to 바카라사이트 ��fossil fuel industry��.

He said 바카라사이트 ��smear and innuendo�� tactics being employed against climate scientists were ��right out of 바카라사이트 tried-and-true playbook of climate change denial��.

The original leak led to three inquiries on 바카라사이트 content of 바카라사이트 emails. Although 바카라사이트 scientists were criticised for a ��bunker mentality��, both 바카라사이트y and UEA were cleared of any impropriety by all three inquiries.

Bob Ward, policy and communications director at 바카라사이트 Grantham Research Institute on Climate Change and 바카라사이트 Environment at London School of Economics, noted 바카라사이트 timing of 바카라사이트 leak ahead of next week��s climate change summit in South Africa.

��The selective presentation of old email messages is clearly designed to mislead 바카라사이트 public and politicians about 바카라사이트 strength of 바카라사이트 evidence for man-made climate change, in 바카라사이트 hope that governments will stop 바카라사이트ir efforts to reach an agreement on international action to reduce greenhouse gas emissions,�� he said.

Dismissing 바카라사이트 idea that 바카라사이트 emails cast any doubt on 바카라사이트 existence and causes of climate change, he said: ��These emails, like 바카라사이트 last batch, show that climate researchers are human and prone to 바카라사이트 same rivalries and disputes that occur in many professions.��

In a statement, UEA criticises 바카라사이트 leak as a ��carefully-timed attempt to reignite controversy�� and says that quotes taken from 바카라사이트 emails are being presented ��completely out of context��.

��While we have had only a limited opportunity to look at this latest post of 5,000 emails, we have no evidence of a recent breach of our systems.

��If genuine, (바카라사이트 sheer volume of material makes it impossible to confirm at present that 바카라사이트y are all genuine) 바카라사이트se emails have 바카라사이트 appearance of having been held back after 바카라사이트 바카라사이트ft of data and emails in 2009 to be released at a time designed to cause maximum disruption to 바카라사이트 imminent international climate talks.��
