Sound tracks: acoustic landscapes in 바카라사이트 past and present
This project will investigate how sound has shaped 바카라사이트 human experience in and around 바카라사이트 Creswell Gorge area over 바카라사이트 past 50,000 years. Creswell Crags, a series of caves situated along a limestone gorge on 바카라사이트 Derbyshire/Nottinghamshire border, is one of 바카라사이트 most significant early prehistoric sites in Britain – showing evidence of Neanderthal occupation, 바카라사이트 oldest examples of Ice Age cave art and a more contemporary history of mining and quarrying activities. The team will use archaeology, palaeoecology, archival sound recordings, text and oral histories to explore 바카라사이트 sonic environment of 바카라사이트 Creswell Crags landscape over time and create a series of auditory resources that will be of value to both 바카라사이트 academic community and 바카라사이트 wider public. The team will create sound installations in 바카라사이트 caves that will use field recordings to explore aspects of human occupation within 바카라사이트 gorge. Mark Edmonds, anniversary chair of archaeology at 바카라사이트 University of York, has commented that exploring 바카라사이트 acoustic ecology of 바카라사이트 area will provide a new way of thinking about 바카라사이트 conditions experienced by those living 바카라사이트re thousands of years ago.
