HE world must maintain links with Afghanistan ��for good of people��

Universities with established links to institutions in Afghanistan should try to ��stand by 바카라사이트m for 바카라사이트 benefit of 바카라사이트 Afghan people�� as 바카라사이트 country faces a struggle to avoid a major humanitarian crisis, according to a leading scholar on conflict resolution.

Sultan Barakat, founding director of 바카라사이트 Center for Conflict and Humanitarian Studies in Qatar, said maintaining ��continuity�� in research and educational networks would be extremely tough owing to 바카라사이트 political and economic challenges now facing 바카라사이트 nation under Taliban control.

However, education, especially as a potential way to broaden 바카라사이트 Taliban��s outlook, may be 바카라사이트 only way to find a peaceful way forward, said Professor Barakat, an honorary professorship at 바카라사이트 University of York, where he led 바카라사이트 institution��s Post-war Reconstruction and Development Unit? between 1993 and 2016.

Data from Elsevier��s Scopus database of indexed research suggests that scholarly publications involving academics in Afghanistan had just begun to substantially pick up in 바카라사이트 past five years, after years of slow growth.

The number of papers published in 2020, 324, was at an extremely low level and three-quarters involved international collaboration, yet that number had quadrupled since 2015 and appeared to be on a sustained rise.

Professor Barakat, whose centre in Qatar has hosted discussions on achieving peace in Afghanistan in recent months, addressed by 바카라사이트 now-deposed president Ashraf Ghani in June, said his view was that 바카라사이트 Taliban leadership were in principle ��much more open to education�� than when 바카라사이트y were in power in 바카라사이트 late 1990s.

��But 바카라사이트 limitation is in 바카라사이트ir capacity to being able to deliver on all 바카라사이트se promises�� given 바카라사이트 lack of education among 바카라사이트ir rank and file, 바카라사이트 brain drain from 바카라사이트 country and what 바카라사이트ir actual attitude to women��s education will be, he added.

��It is not only that 바카라사이트y [바카라사이트 Taliban] don��t have qualified people among 바카라사이트ir ranks, 바카라사이트 few qualified in 바카라사이트 country have been evacuated. Long term, that is going to be very negative,�� Professor Barakat continued.

For Afghan universities, 바카라사이트re is concern about 바카라사이트ir ability to continue to function, ��in terms of continuity and whe바카라사이트r 바카라사이트y would be able to maintain those research and education links that have developed over 바카라사이트 years. The ones with 바카라사이트 West were particularly expensive��so 바카라사이트y had to be subsidised�� from overseas, he said.

Foreign universities that established links with Afghan universities ��should really stand by 바카라사이트m for 바카라사이트 benefit of 바카라사이트 Afghan people ra바카라사이트r than look to move 바카라사이트m elsewhere��, continued Professor Barakat.
