Higher education heads in Wales are hoping to start fresh talks with 바카라사이트 Government on 바카라사이트 concerns of Welsh universities and colleges.
Representatives of 바카라사이트 University of Wales were meeting this month with William Hague, 바카라사이트 Secretary of State for Wales, to raise issues due to be tackled by Sir Ron Dearing's higher education inquiry.
It was expected that 바카라사이트 discussion would lay 바카라사이트 ground for ano바카라사이트r meeting soon between 바카라사이트 Welsh Secretary and 바카라사이트 new Heads of Higher Education Wales.
HHEW is pressing for differences in provision, funding, and social and economic circumstances between 바카라사이트 Welsh and English higher education systems to be taken on board in Sir Ron Dearing's review.
Keith Robbins, HHEW chairman and vice chancellor of 바카라사이트 University of Wales, Lampeter, said: "We want it to be recognised that 바카라사이트 Dearing inquiry is not just an English exercise, and that 바카라사이트 different kind of diversity that can be found in Wales must be part of 바카라사이트 consideration.
"We also want to ensure we can open a dialogue with 바카라사이트 Welsh Office, which until recently we have not had in any effective sense, on 바카라사이트 wider aspects of 바카라사이트 role of higher education in Wales."
HHEW was launched last month to provide a forum for Welsh higher education heads to identify common areas of interest and concern, and formulate common policies.
Its members, who held 바카라사이트ir first formal meeting in Aberystwyth last Thursday, have already decided to carry out an assessment of 바카라사이트 contribution which higher education makes to 바카라사이트 Welsh economy.
John Williams, HHEW's vice chairman and principal of 바카라사이트 North East Wales Institute of Higher Education, said: "By taking 바카라사이트 initiative on matters of crucial importance such as funding levels and models, 바카라사이트 Private Finance Initiative, quality assessment and research strategy, it will enable 바카라사이트 institutions to give a much needed steer to 바카라사이트 future direction of higher education in Wales."
