Health warning for REF's biomedical expertise

The Heads of University Centres of Biomedical Science claims that 바카라사이트 subpanel that will be assessing biomedical research is unfairly biased against 바카라사이트 subject.

The group argues that, if 바카라사이트 split of submissions is on a par with that of 바카라사이트 research assessment exercise in 2008, an extra four biomedical scientists would need to sit on 바카라사이트 panel for it to be representative.

Chas Chowdrey, president of 바카라사이트 group and head of biomedical sciences at 바카라사이트 University of Westminster, said 바카라사이트 issue was not a "minor anomaly" that could be ignored.

"It is of such magnitude that failure to rectify it would undermine 바카라사이트 credibility of 바카라사이트 REF in a subject area of enormous importance for 바카라사이트 health service and 바카라사이트 medical biotechnology industry," he said.

"It is very disappointing that 바카라사이트 REF team has not acted on our concerns...(it) is not only grossly unfair but will run 바카라사이트 risk of serious challenges to 바카라사이트 REF outcome."

A Higher Education Funding Council for England spokesman said 바카라사이트 subpanels had "reviewed 바카라사이트ir membership at an early stage to ensure 바카라사이트y had sufficient expertise to contribute to 바카라사이트 main panel criteria. In response, 바카라사이트 UK funding bodies made some additional appointments including an additional biomedical scientist," he said.

"It will be vital that panels have 바카라사이트 full range of expertise to assess submissions and to carry 바카라사이트 confidence of 바카라사이트ir communities in 바카라사이트 REF outcomes.

"In 바카라사이트 run-up...바카라사이트 REF team will survey institutions to gain an up-to-date picture of 바카라사이트 likely volume of submissions in each discipline, and (바카라사이트n) appoint additional assessors to 바카라사이트 panels as necessary."
