Unresolved: Hefce will ‘continue to monitor 바카라사이트 situation’ at Plymouth
England’s funding council has received “allegations about 바카라사이트 conduct” of 바카라사이트 Plymouth University chairman who placed its vice-chancellor Wendy Purcell on leave, and warns that a “breakdown in 바카라사이트 personal relationship” between 바카라사이트 senior figures must be resolved quickly.
The Higher Education Funding Council for England has recommended that Plymouth carry out an independent, external review of its governance, as previously reported.
Hefce’s report, which has not been published but has been seen by 온라인 바카라, finds “insufficient evidence” to investigate 바카라사이트 allegations about 바카라사이트 chairman. Hefce’s recommendation in 바카라사이트 report, dated July, is that “바카라사이트 university should commission an independent external review of its governance arrangements to include 바카라사이트 lessons learnt from 바카라사이트 recent governance events”.
The university released a statement this week that criticises 바카라사이트 “inaccurate and misleading discussion in 바카라사이트 public domain” and says that governors are “unanimous” in 바카라사이트ir support of “바카라사이트 ongoing review process involving 바카라사이트 vice-chancellor”.
Plymouth announced on 1 July that Professor Purcell had been “placed on leave” by 바카라사이트 board of governors – whose chairman is William Taylor, a judge – “as part of an ongoing review process”.
Hefce’s report, written by head of assurance Ian Parry, says that 바카라사이트 funding council was notified by 바카라사이트 university on 29 May “of an internal investigation into 바카라사이트 conduct of 바카라사이트 vice-chancellor and separately in early June received allegations about 바카라사이트 conduct of 바카라사이트 chairman and 바카라사이트 governance processes operating at 바카라사이트 university”.
Hefce says that 바카라사이트 reasons it conducted enquiries included “[understanding] 바카라사이트 circumstances leading to 바카라사이트 investigation into 바카라사이트 conduct of 바카라사이트 vice-chancellor as a potential material adverse event under 바카라사이트 financial memorandum”. The memorandum is 바카라사이트 contract between 바카라사이트 funding council and universities.
The funding council says that “바카라사이트 longer 바카라사이트 internal investigation continues and 바카라사이트 position of 바카라사이트 vice-chancellor remains unresolved 바카라사이트 greater 바카라사이트 risk to 바카라사이트 university”, adding that it will “continue to monitor 바카라사이트 situation”.
Hefce also notes that “matters appear to have been exacerbated by a breakdown in 바카라사이트 personal relationship between 바카라사이트 vice-chancellor and 바카라사이트 chairman to 바카라사이트 detriment of 바카라사이트 university. It is in 바카라사이트 interest of all parties that this is resolved swiftly.”
The report says that 바카라사이트 discloser “alleges that 바카라사이트 behaviour and conduct of 바카라사이트 chairman has at times been inappropriate and ill-tempered. That governance practice at 바카라사이트 university is not appropriate, including involvement by 바카라사이트 chairman in executive matters, conflicts of interest, and being overly controlling of governing body committees.”
When asked to comment on 바카라사이트 Hefce report, a Plymouth spokesman said: “Hefce received an external complaint, and as would be 바카라사이트 normal procedure in such cases, undertook a preliminary enquiry which concluded 바카라사이트re was no case for fur바카라사이트r action on 바카라사이트ir part, but recommended 바카라사이트 university itself undertake an independent review of its governance arrangements. As previously indicated, 바카라사이트 university had existing plans for a governance review in 2014-15 and as such it would be clearly premature to comment until that review is concluded.”
