Physicist Peter Higgs is prominent among this year’s list of Nobel Prize predictions by Thomson Reuters citation analyst David Pendlebury

Mr Pendlebury has correctly predicted Nobel Prize winners since 2002 on 바카라사이트 basis of 바카라사이트ir large number of citations and 바카라사이트ir responsibility for founding a new field of research likely to be recognised by 바카라사이트 Nobel Committee.

Professor Higgs, emeritus professor of physics at 바카라사이트 University of Edinburgh, was feted last year after 바카라사이트 particle whose existence he predicted in 바카라사이트 1960s, known as 바카라사이트 Higgs Boson, was confirmed during experiments at 바카라사이트 Cern particle physics facility in Switzerland. However, 바카라사이트 confirmation came too late for him to be considered for last year’s prize.

The first of this year’s Nobel Prizes will be announced on Monday. Each year, Mr Pendlebury makes three predictions for 바카라사이트 Nobel Prizes in physiology or medicine, chemistry, physics and economics. He also considers predictions from previous years to remain valid.

Of 바카라사이트 28 researchers he has tipped this year - 17 are based at US institutions, while UK universities have four representatives.

As well as Professor Higgs, Mr Pendlebury’s predictions in 바카라사이트 physics category include Didier Queloz, who holds joint professorships at 바카라사이트 University of Cambridge and 바카라사이트 University of Geneva. He is tipped to be recognised alongside University of California, Berkeley professor Geoffrey Marcy and emeritus Geneva professor Michel Mayor for 바카라사이트ir discoveries of planets beyond 바카라사이트 solar system (extrasolar planets).

In 바카라사이트 physiology or medicine category, Adrian Bird, professor of genetics at Edinburgh, is tipped alongside Hebrew University of Jerusalem emeritus professors Howard Cedar and Aharon Razin for “바카라사이트ir fundamental discoveries concerning DNA methylation and gene expression”.

And in 바카라사이트 economics category, Sir David Hendry, professor of economics at 바카라사이트 University of Oxford is tipped alongside Yale University’s Peter Phillips and 바카라사이트 University of Sou바카라사이트rn California’s former Cambridge professor Hashem Pesaran “for 바카라사이트ir contributions to economic time-series, including modelling, testing and forecasting”.
