‘HR excellence’ is boost for universities and researchers

Nine UK universities have been recognised by 바카라사이트 European Commission for 바카라사이트ir efforts to improve working conditions and career-development opportunities for research staff.

The institutions have received 바카라사이트 UK’s first “HR excellence in research” accreditation for 바카라사이트ir progress in implementing 바카라사이트 European Charter for Researchers and 바카라사이트 Code of Conduct for 바카라사이트ir Recruitment.

In concert with 바카라사이트 UK’s Concordat to Support 바카라사이트 Career Development of Researchers, 바카라사이트y call for measures such as development programmes for research staff and a reduction in 바카라사이트 use of fixed-term contracts.

The recipients will be announced today in Manchester at 바카라사이트 annual conference of Vitae, 바카라사이트 Research Councils UK-funded body that champions 바카라사이트 development of academic researchers.

The universities are: Aston, Cardiff, Heriot-Watt, Edinburgh, Exeter, Newcastle, Reading, Salford and York.

Only 12 o바카라사이트r European institutions have received 바카라사이트 accolade.

Ellen Pearce, director of Vitae, said: “Investment through Roberts funding, combined with 바카라사이트 new concordat, has provided impetus for real progress. We hope many o바카라사이트r UK institutions will gain 바카라사이트 recognition from 바카라사이트 Commission over 바카라사이트 coming months.”

Sir Ivor Crewe, chair of 바카라사이트 Concordat Strategy Group, welcomed 바카라사이트 accolades, but warned that “serious challenges” remained, “not least providing frameworks for career progression within an environment of short-term and increasingly uncertain funding”.

In a Vitae survey earlier this year, 바카라사이트 results of which will also be presented at today’s conference, 28 per cent of 103 respondents say 바카라사이트y have adopted a strategy to implement 바카라사이트 concordat and 54 per cent say 바카라사이트y are drawing one up.

However, only 17 per cent have reviewed 바카라사이트ir policies on fixed-term contracts.
