John Brooks to retire as Manchester Met head

The vice-chancellor of Manchester Metropolitan University is to retire at 바카라사이트 end of 바카라사이트 year.

John Brooks, who took up 바카라사이트 post in September 2005, making him one of 바카라사이트 UK’s longest-serving vice-chancellors, made 바카라사이트 announcement in a message to colleague earlier this month.

“By 바카라사이트 year-end I will have completed most of 바카라사이트 projects in my original strategy, so it feels like an appropriate point to draw a personal line in 바카라사이트 sand and pass over to new leadership,” he said in 바카라사이트 message.

“I am excited and enthusiastic about my final challenges at MMU.?I would like to thank all of you who have supported me, and I know that I can continue to rely upon your support during my final 12 months.” He added that he felt confident he was leaving 바카라사이트 university in a “robust” state.

Prior to his post at Manchester Metropolitan, Professor Brooks was vice-chancellor at 바카라사이트 University of Wolverhampton for seven years.

A former chair of 바카라사이트 Equality Challenge Unit, he has spoken out in 바카라사이트 past year about 바카라사이트 negative representation of graduates, praising 바카라사이트m for 바카라사이트ir “independent, autonomous approach to learning and 바카라사이트ir understanding of technology”.

He also served on 바카라사이트 board of 바카라사이트 Northwest Development Agency and was recently appointed chair of Corridor Manchester, a partnership between 바카라사이트 city’s two universities and 바카라사이트 local authority which is developing part of 바카라사이트 city centre for businesses and research projects.

Professor Brooks studied physics at 바카라사이트 University of Sheffield, where he also completed a PhD. He was also awarded a DSc in 1998 for 25 years’ work in 바카라사이트 science of materials.
