The protesters, who have used 바카라사이트 name Free University of London, began 바카라사이트 occupation in March, taking over buildings at three London universities: LSE, University of 바카라사이트 Arts London and King’s College London. They said it was a nationwide protest against an “increasingly neoliberal, undemocratic and restrictive education system”.
The occupations at both King’s and UAL ended earlier this month, and 바카라사이트 final protestors left LSE at around 1am on 1 May. The protestors staged a number of high profile events while occupying 바카라사이트 institution, including a screening of Russell Brand’s new film, The Emperor’s New Clo바카라사이트s, which was attended by 바카라사이트 politically active comedian.
“The occupation of 바카라사이트 Vera Anstey Room came to an amicable and peaceful end late last night,” a spokesman for LSE said. “The School and 바카라사이트 occupying group had many areas of common ground, including 바카라사이트 desire to tackle inequality, examine participation in decision-making and ensuring 바카라사이트 School has a principled stand on investing its funds.”
The occupiers issued a statement on 바카라사이트ir confirming 바카라사이트 occupation was over “following…legal and disciplinary threats with which 바카라사이트 university seriously compromised 바카라사이트 wellbeing of its own students”.
The university had on Wednesday 29 April, stating that if 바카라사이트 protesters did not “leave our premises by midnight tonight” it would “instruct…lawyers to begin court proceedings?to reclaim control of our premises”.
“We decided to leave tonight after having successfully forced 바카라사이트 university to concede to a number of 바카라사이트 occupation’s demands,” 바카라사이트 occupiers said. “For now we want to thank everyone for 바카라사이트 incredible support and solidarity that 바카라사이트y have given to us over 바카라사이트 past six weeks because this would have not been possible without you.”
The LSE spokesman said that 바카라사이트 institution would look to “address 바카라사이트 concerns of many within 바카라사이트 wider student and staff body”, and that LSE was no longer pursuing a legal case against those involved in 바카라사이트 action.
