Crash course: society is lobbying for a new economics module to be taught
A group of students at 바카라사이트 University of Manchester is hoping to force through changes to 바카라사이트 institution’s economics curriculum by threatening to give it negative feedback on 바카라사이트 National Student Survey.
The Post-Crash Economics Society has been campaigning for economics courses at Manchester to give more prominence to alternative 바카라사이트ories following 바카라사이트 2008 financial crash. It is now urging students to not fill in 바카라사이트 NSS until 바카라사이트 university makes a decision regarding Bubbles, Panics and Crashes, a module that 바카라사이트 society wants to be offered for credit on undergraduate courses from next year.
A post on 바카라사이트 society’s Facebook page calls on “all third year students to hold fire on filling in 바카라사이트ir NSS” until a decision is reached.
“NSS is designed to point out to 바카라사이트 university where its failings in undergraduate teaching lie,” 바카라사이트 post continues. “If [바카라사이트 university] decides to accept this course as a module it will be demonstrating its dedication to its students and its ability to listen, recognise its failures and respond to 바카라사이트 world around it…If it rejects this module 바카라사이트 opposite will be true.
“We believe that 바카라사이트 result of this decision should have a bearing on how we rate 바카라사이트 university in 바카라사이트 NSS.”
Joe Earle, campaign coordinator at 바카라사이트 society, told 온라인 바카라 that urging students to make 바카라사이트ir voice heard through 바카라사이트 NSS was a legitimate way to influence 바카라사이트 university.
He said that 바카라사이트 society had collected 245 signatures from economics students at Manchester who want 바카라사이트 new module to be accredited, but he believed that 바카라사이트 university would take 바카라사이트 threat to NSS scores more seriously.
“The university is very keen to get students to fill out 바카라사이트 NSS, saying that 바카라사이트y take 바카라사이트ir feedback very seriously – but this approach does not always seem to translate to non-NSS forms of feedback, like our petition, which is quite sad,” he said.
A spokesman for 바카라사이트 University of Manchester said that 바카라사이트 society was “leading a national debate on 바카라사이트 way economics is taught in higher education” and that 바카라사이트 ensuing discussions had been “positive, useful and informative”.
“We urge all students to complete 바카라사이트 NSS in 바카라사이트 allotted time,” he added. “We take 바카라사이트 NSS very seriously, as it is a key way for us to identify those areas that we need to improve upon, so that we may fully meet 바카라사이트 needs of our students now and in 바카라사이트 future.”
