MPs have been appointed to 바카라사이트 select committees that scrutinise 바카라사이트 department responsible for higher education and 바카라사이트 government’s science policy.
Appointments to 바카라사이트 Business, Innovation and Skills Committee and 바카라사이트 Science and Technology Committee have now been confirmed, following 바카라사이트 results of elections among MPs.
The respective chairs of 바카라사이트 committees – Labour’s Iain Wright and 바카라사이트 Conservatives’ Nicola Blackwood – had previously been confirmed.
Paul Blomfield, 바카라사이트 Labour MP for Sheffield Central, who has campaigned on a number of higher education issues, remains a member of 바카라사이트 BIS committee. Mr Blomfield has backed Universities UK on its calls for international students to be removed from 바카라사이트 government’s net migration targets.
Mr Wright, Mr Blomfield and new MPs Jo Stevens and Peter Kyle make up 바카라사이트 Labour contingent on 바카라사이트 BIS committee.
The Conservative members are Richard Fuller, Amanda Milling, Amanda Solloway, Kelly Tolhurst (who won a high-profile contest against Ukip’s Mark Reckless to reclaim 바카라사이트 seat of Rochester and Strood for 바카라사이트 Tories at 바카라사이트 last election), Craig Tracey and Chris White.
Michelle Thomson is 바카라사이트 SNP member on 바카라사이트 committee.
On 바카라사이트 Science and Technology Committee, which “exists to ensure that government policy and decision-making are based on good scientific and engineering advice and evidence”, members include 바카라사이트 Tories’ Tania Mathias, who unseated Vince Cable in Twickenham at 바카라사이트 last election.
Dr Mathias is a medical doctor who says on her website that she formerly worked for 바카라사이트 United Nations Relief and Works Agency in 바카라사이트 Gaza Strip and treated HIV, Aids and TB patients in Africa.
Her Conservative colleagues on 바카라사이트 committee are Ms Blackwood, Victoria Borwick, Chris Green, Derek Thomas and Matt Warman, formerly 바카라사이트 technology editor of 바카라사이트 Daily Telegraph.
Labour members include Daniel Zeichner, 바카라사이트 Cambridge MP who unseated University of Cambridge academic Julian Huppert at 바카라사이트 last election. His Labour colleagues are Jim Dowd, Liz McInnes and Graham Stringer.
