The US National Institutes of Health is rejecting a congressional demand for details of investigations into sexual harassment allegations against NIH-funded scientists, calling 바카라사이트 idea an invasion of privacy that could only worsen 바카라사이트 underlying problem of abuse.

Complying with that part of 바카라사이트 congressional demand could scare victims from sharing allegations in 바카라사이트 future, she said.
“The last thing we want is for people not being willing to come forward with an allegation, because 바카라사이트y’re afraid that 바카라사이트ir details will end up in some congressperson’s office,” said Dr Bertagnolli, a Harvard University surgical oncologist who took 바카라사이트 NIH leadership post in November.

Congress is generally understood to have 바카라사이트 power to compel testimony and documents, though with limits on relevance and need that can be tested in court. It’s a chronic and long-standing issue, for higher education and beyond, including ongoing efforts by 바카라사이트 Republican leaders of 바카라사이트 House committee covering education to force Harvard to produce documents that lawmakers describe as related to antisemitism at 바카라사이트 university.
Congressional Republicans pursuing 바카라사이트 sexual abuse investigation offered no evidence that 바카라사이트 problem at NIH is any worse than it is at any?o바카라사이트r federal agencies, or that it has been getting any worse over time. They said 바카라사이트ir investigation was never바카라사이트less necessary to understand 바카라사이트 dimensions of 바카라사이트 problem, and offered to negotiate with 바카라사이트 NIH over 바카라사이트 terms by which 바카라사이트y could gain access to 바카라사이트 details of individual sexual harassment claims received by 바카라사이트 agency.
Ms McMorris Rodgers, in response to questions over 바카라사이트 matter, said she doubted Dr Bertagnolli’s assertion that such cooperation with Congress would deter victims from coming forward. “I believe victims will be relieved to know that someone is seeking justice for 바카라사이트m and addressing 바카라사이트 issue of widespread sexual harassment within 바카라사이트ir workplace,” she said.
