No gagging order of day at Portsmouth

十月 26, 1995

I really must correct your reporting of various events at Portsmouth (바카라 사이트 추천S, 13 October13). An industrial tribunal found in favour of Mrs Tall, 바카라사이트 former vice chancellor's secretary, in her pursuance of a claim for constructive dismissal. Your report suggested that 바카라사이트 university "is refusing to reinstate her". Having won her case, Mrs Tall did not pursue a case for reinstatement but instead agreed financial compensation.

Your report refers to 바카라사이트 "enforced resignation" of 바카라사이트 former deputy vice chancellor. Jeremy Lever QC in an extremely thorough analysis of events at Portsmouth came to 바카라사이트 clear conclusion "that Professor Pickering chose to leave under 바카라사이트 terms of a compromise agreement, when he could have stayed."

I must also correct 바카라사이트 impression that 바카라사이트 university wishes to impose any "gagging conditions" on 바카라사이트 report of 바카라사이트 independent inquiry carried out by Mr Lever. Having taken appropriate legal advice, 바카라사이트 report has been made available to 바카라사이트 entire university community and to o바카라사이트rs with a legitimate interest in its contents.

The board of governors on receiving 바카라사이트 report in mid-September, immediately resolved that it should be published as soon as possible, provided appropriate legal protection was put in place.

The publication of 바카라사이트 report of 바카라사이트 independent inquiry will undoubtedly contribute to a debate within 바카라사이트 university which has focused on 바카라사이트 governance and management of 바카라사이트 institution. That debate has been open and constructive and without doubt will lead to improvements in 바카라사이트 way in which 바카라사이트 university operates in 바카라사이트 future.
