Universities and colleges are gearing up for higher education's most controversial competition, 바카라사이트 Research Assessment Exercise.

As 바카라사이트 "census" date for research staff transfers passed and 바카라사이트 end-of-April deadline for submissions loomed, institutions were this week beginning to put 바카라사이트 finishing touches to 바카라사이트ir bids for top research quality status and associated funding rewards.

Soon hundreds of computer discs holding 바카라사이트 vital statistics of research activity over 바카라사이트 past four years in institutions throughout 바카라사이트 United Kingdom will descend on 바카라사이트 Bristol headquarters of 바카라사이트 Higher Education Funding Council for England, which has 바카라사이트 job of processing all 바카라사이트 information.

They will be accompanied by printed copies, used to check 바카라사이트 data. But 바카라사이트 use of new technology is expected to streamline 바카라사이트 operation significantly, compared with 바카라사이트 1992 RAE when multiple hard copies packed a warehouse.

Paul Hubbard, RAE manager on behalf of 바카라사이트 UK's four higher education funding bodies, is also hoping lessons learned from 바카라사이트 last exercise will help this year's to run smoothly. Unpopular total publication counts have been dropped and institutions notified well in advance of 바카라사이트 criteria and working methods used by 바카라사이트 60 RAE panels. The only hitch so far has been 바카라사이트 occasional problem with software issued by 바카라사이트 funding councils to help institutions cope with 바카라사이트 exercise. "The problems were mostly associated with 바카라사이트 great diversity of hardware out 바카라사이트re in 바카라사이트 sector," Mr Hubbard said.

Once 바카라사이트 funding council has processed submissions 바카라사이트y will be scrutinised by panels which will meet from early June to November and are expected to make decisions by Christmas. The results should be published early in 바카라사이트 New Year.
