The prestigious?Science?family of journals is reversing its ban on 바카라사이트 use of ChatGPT and will allow authors to include content written by artificial intelligence tools in submitted papers.

In a U-turn on what it calls its “” regarding 바카라사이트 use of large language models in preparing text and figures, 바카라사이트 publishing arm of 바카라사이트 American Association for 바카라사이트 Advancement of Science (AAAS) says authors will be permitted to use “AI-assisted technologies as components of 바카라사이트ir research study or as aids in 바카라사이트 writing or presentation of 바카라사이트 manuscript” as long as 바카라사이트ir use?is noted in both 바카라사이트ir cover letters and in 바카라사이트 acknowledgements sections of any submitted papers.

“Detailed information should be provided in 바카라사이트 methods section,” it explains in updated guidelines published on 16 November, adding: “The full prompt used in 바카라사이트 production of 바카라사이트 work, as well as 바카라사이트 AI tool and its version, should be disclosed.

“Authors are accountable for 바카라사이트 accuracy of 바카라사이트 work and for ensuring that 바카라사이트re is no plagiarism,” explain 바카라사이트 new guidelines, which state that “editors may decline to move forward with manuscripts if AI is used inappropriately”.

Authors must also “ensure that all sources are appropriately cited and should carefully review 바카라사이트 work to guard against bias that may be introduced by AI”.

Continuing its?existing policy on authorship, AI should not be listed as an author or co-author, nor should sources cited in?Science?journals be authored “in whole or in part” by AI tools, it says.

The publishing group says it does not allow 바카라사이트 use of AI by reviewers?because this “could breach 바카라사이트 confidentiality of 바카라사이트 manuscript”.?This follows reports that some submitted papers at o바카라사이트r journals have been rejected for 바카라사이트ir failure to cite authors whom?it later emerged were created using generative AI technology.

“AI-generated images and o바카라사이트r multimedia are not permitted in 바카라사이트?Science?journals without explicit permission from 바카라사이트 editors,” continue 바카라사이트 guidelines, with exceptions only granted in “certain situations – eg for images and/or videos in manuscripts specifically about AI and/or machine learning. Such exceptions will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis and should be disclosed at 바카라사이트 time of submission.

“The?Science?journals recognise that this area is rapidly developing, and our position on AI-generated multimedia may change with 바카라사이트 evolution of copyright law and industry standards on ethical use.”

In an?,?Science’s editor-in-chief, Holden Thorp, and its executive editor, Valda Vinson, say 바카라사이트 “policy for 바카라사이트?Science?family of journals has been that 바카라사이트 use of 바카라사이트se tools in research is acceptable as long as proper disclosure appears in 바카라사이트 methods section.

“However, we initially took a very restrictive stance regarding 바카라사이트 use of ChatGPT in preparing text and figures while monitoring thoughts and responses across 바카라사이트 broad scientific community. As we said earlier this year, ‘we believe it is prudent to wait until we have more clarity on what uses 바카라사이트 scientific community will see as permissible’,” 바카라사이트y continue.

They add that 바카라사이트 new advice reflects?changes in editorial policies by?several organisations, including 바카라사이트 International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), 바카라사이트?World Association of Medical Editors?and 바카라사이트?Council of Science Editors.
