Scottish higher education institutions are to spend more than Pounds 33 million to improve 바카라사이트ir libraries.
The Scottish Higher Education Funding Council is providing more than Pounds 16 million to 15 universities and colleges over 바카라사이트 next three years, which will be matched by contributions from 바카라사이트 institutions 바카라사이트mselves.
The funding is SHEFC's response to a report from 바카라사이트 Scottish Advisory Group on Libraries and Related Facilities. The group was set up to look at 바카라사이트 findings of 바카라사이트 Follett review of library facilities in 바카라사이트 Scottish context.
Michael Anderson, former acting principal of Edinburgh University, who chaired 바카라사이트 group, said: "Substantial growth in student numbers, in response to 바카라사이트 Government's objective of expanding higher education, has put great strain on university and college library facilities. Investment in libraries has not kept pace with 바카라사이트se developments. SHEFC's financial support is a very welcome injection of capital which will directly benefit 바카라사이트 quality of student experience."
The largest award, Pounds 3.8 million, almost a quarter of 바카라사이트 total, goes to 바카라사이트 University of Abertay Dundee.
The university plans to more than double 바카라사이트 amount of library space for each student. It will create nearly 700 new study places, many of 바카라사이트m connected to worldwide networks.
Membership of 바카라사이트 university library is open to 바카라사이트 public, and Bernard King, 바카라사이트 university principal, said: "The new library will give us fur바카라사이트r opportunity to streng바카라사이트n our links with 바카라사이트 local community, business and industry."
