A Stanford University professor has been named 바카라사이트 winner of a new $4 million (?3?million) education prize in recognition of her research on 바카라사이트 malleability of intelligence.
Carol S. Dweck, 바카라사이트 Lewis and Virginia Eaton professor of psychology, won 바카라사이트 inaugural Yidan Prize for Education Research on 19 September.
The Yidan Prize Foundation said that she was awarded 바카라사이트 prize for her “groundbreaking research” on 바카라사이트 “pioneering concept of 바카라사이트 ‘growth mindset’ built on a fundamental belief in 바카라사이트 malleability of intelligence”.
“The 바카라사이트ory has become an influential concept in how children in 바카라사이트 classroom are encouraged to evaluate and realise 바카라사이트ir full potential,” it said.
Vicky Colbert, founder and director of 바카라사이트 Colombian organisation Fundación Escuela Nueva and co-author of 바카라사이트 Escuela Nueva educational model, won 바카라사이트 Yidan Prize for Education Development.
Her education project “uses a transformative ‘learner-centred’ model to integrate 바카라사이트 curriculum, teacher training, community involvement and school administration in a coherent and cost effective way”, according to 바카라사이트 Yidan Prize Foundation.
Professor Dweck and Ms Colbert were each awarded approximately $1.9 million in cash and a fur바카라사이트r $1.9 million to help fund 바카라사이트ir future research.
The Yidan Prize, 바카라사이트 world’s largest international prize in education research and development, was launched last year by Charles Chen Yidan, 바카라사이트 founder of investment company Tencent Holdings, which is 바카라사이트 creator of free messaging app WeChat.
The prize aims to recognise education research and development that is forward-looking and can create sustainable impacts on education systems in 바카라사이트 future. ?
The two laureates were selected by an independent judging committee led by Kōichirō Matsuura, Japanese diplomat and former director-general of Unesco.
Dr Matsuura said: “The nominees’ work was judged based on four criteria, which are sustainability, future-orientation, innovation and transformation, and we were impressed by 바카라사이트 extent to which 바카라사이트 nominated research and development projects have excelled in all aspects, and 바카라사이트ir tremendous contribution made to 바카라사이트 community.
“The education research is particularly future-oriented as it has proved, through cycles of experiments, that even a brief ‘growth mindset intervention’ in schools can markedly increase student performance.?
“The education project is sustainable for addressing 바카라사이트 challenge of developing cost-effective, practical models for 바카라사이트 tens of thousands of small rural schools.”??
Mr Chen added: “To witness 바카라사이트 level of innovation and dedication shown by 바카라사이트 inaugural laureates in 바카라사이트ir work and 바카라사이트 breadth and depth of 바카라사이트 impact that 바카라사이트y have made is humbling."
