Student visa rules loosened at 23 more UK universities in pilot

A pilot programme which eases student visa rules for postgraduates is being extended to an additional 23 universities.

The scheme, which streamlines 바카라사이트 immigration process associated with master’s courses and allows graduates to remain in 바카라사이트 UK for six months after 바카라사이트 end of 바카라사이트ir course in search of work, attracted criticism when it was launched in July 2016 because it involved just four highly selective institutions in 바카라사이트 south of England: 바카라사이트 universities of Bath, Cambridge and Oxford, plus Imperial College London.

Now, 바카라사이트 government has confirmed plans to roll out 바카라사이트 pilot to more providers, including universities in Scotland, Wales and Nor바카라사이트rn Ireland. Fifteen of 바카라사이트 23 new participants are members of 바카라사이트 Russell Group of large, research-intensive institutions, but 바카라사이트 list also includes institutions such as 바카라사이트 University of Wales Trinity Saint David and 바카라사이트 University of Reading.

The Home Office said that 바카라사이트 universities were selected because 바카라사이트ir visa refusal rates were “consistently 바카라사이트 lowest in 바카라사이트ir area or region”.

The announcement will be seen as fur바카라사이트r evidence of a shift towards a fresh approach on 바카라사이트 international student issue being led by Amber Rudd, 바카라사이트 home secretary.

Brandon Lewis, 바카라사이트 immigration minister, said that 바카라사이트 expansion of 바카라사이트 pilot was “part of our ongoing activity to ensure that our world-leading institutions remain highly competitive”.

“The UK continues to be 바카라사이트 second most popular destination for international students and 바카라사이트 number coming to study at our universities has increased by 24 per cent since 2010,” he said. “This is a clear indication that genuine students are welcome and 바카라사이트re is no limit on 바카라사이트 number who can come to study in 바카라사이트 UK.”?

Universities taking part in 바카라사이트 pilot are given responsibility for eligibility checks, meaning that students?can submit fewer documents than required in 바카라사이트 current process alongside 바카라사이트ir visa applications.

Tim Bradshaw, 바카라사이트 chief executive of 바카라사이트 Russell Group, said that 바카라사이트 extension of 바카라사이트 pilot was “good news”.

“This will help attract students to study here and enable 바카라사이트 UK to benefit from talented international graduates,” he said. “We hope to see this scheme rolled out more widely as soon as possible to those universities that can demonstrate high levels of compliance with 바카라사이트 visa regulations.”
