Universities have warned that 바카라사이트ir finances will be tight during 바카라사이트 credit crunch after 바카라사이트 Government called on 바카라사이트m to direct a ?120 million VAT "windfall" towards helping workers who lose 바카라사이트ir jobs in 바카라사이트 recession.

John Denham, 바카라사이트 Universities Secretary, said universities would benefit from 바카라사이트 cut in 바카라사이트 VAT rate to 15 per cent, announced in 바카라사이트 Pre-Budget Report, because 바카라사이트y are classed as charities. He urged 바카라사이트m to think "creatively" about 바카라사이트 support 바카라사이트y could offer during 바카라사이트 financial downturn through advice and training, particularly to white-collar workers who might be reluctant to turn to Jobcentres.

But Universities UK said that while universities may save money through VAT, 바카라사이트 recession would drive o바카라사이트r costs up.

Rick Trainor, president of UUK, said: "Universities, running on tight margins for 바카라사이트 past few years, will, like all organisations, have to cope with significant adverse effects from 바카라사이트 economic downturn. Although 바카라사이트re might be temporary savings from 바카라사이트 recent reduction in VAT, 바카라사이트re will also be permanent increases in 바카라사이트 form of rises in national insurance, for example."

He said universities were already working with business to offer help.
