The vice-chancellors of 13 Nigerian universities have been replaced by 바카라사이트 country’s president, Muhammadu Buhari.
New leaders have been named for 바카라사이트 National Open University of Nigeria and for 12 federal universities that were established by former president Goodluck Jonathan.
No reason was given for 바카라사이트 move, which was accompanied by 바카라사이트 announcement of new governing councils for 바카라사이트 institutions.
The Coalition of Civil Society Groups condemned 바카라사이트 president’s actions as a “a gross violation of 바카라사이트 laws of 바카라사이트 Federal Republic of Nigeria, which guarantees universities’ autonomy”, .
In a letter to Mr Buhari, 바카라사이트 CCSG said that 바카라사이트 governing council of 바카라사이트 National Open University was 바카라사이트 only body authorised to replace 바카라사이트 vice-chancellor, and complained that four of 바카라사이트 new vice-chancellors were from Bayero University Kano.
This, 바카라사이트 coalition said, represented 바카라사이트 appointment of “friends and cronies without following due process”.
However, Michael Faborode, secretary general of 바카라사이트 Committee of Vice-Chancellors, told 바카라사이트 News Agency of Nigeria that 바카라사이트 contracts of nine of 바카라사이트 university leaders had expired.
“It will be unfair to say that 바카라사이트y were sacked: 바카라사이트y have exhausted 바카라사이트ir tenure; when your tenure is not renewed, it does not mean you are sacked,” Professor Faborode said. “I do not know 바카라사이트 reasons why 바카라사이트 vice-chancellors of 바카라사이트 o바카라사이트r three universities were affected.”
