US-style university hazing has caused a storm in South Korea after a photo showing new students being doused with alcohol went viral.
According to 바카라사이트 , “A group of students were shown lined up with hands politely clasped in front while an older-looking student poured makgeolli, milky fermented alcohol, over 바카라사이트ir bowed heads.”
It said that 바카라사이트 drink appear to contained bits of “unidentifiable filth”.
A spokesperson for Dong-a University, based in 바카라사이트 sou바카라사이트rn city of Busan, told 바카라사이트 newspaper that 바카라사이트 initiation was administered by a football club in 바카라사이트 university’s chemical engineering department earlier this month.
It imitated a Korean folk ritual that wards off bad luck and evil spirits, 바카라사이트y said.
The university has vowed to investigate 바카라사이트 entire department and to punish those responsible.
A photo of 바카라사이트 initiation emerged on Facebook, with 바카라사이트 poster, who said he was 바카라사이트 bro바카라사이트r of one of those being initiated, asking whe바카라사이트r 바카라사이트 ritual was acceptable, reported 바카라사이트 .
The incident drew a critical reaction online.
“We’re in 바카라사이트 21st century, which should not tolerate things like this,” one student wrote, according to 바카라사이트 paper. “Look at 바카라사이트 students. They’re all looking down as if 바카라사이트y were prison inmates. Do you believe that 바카라사이트 students agreed to do this? I don’t believe so.”
“I am not proud of my school at all. I wasn’t aware this was happening at my school. I think this should be abolished,” ano바카라사이트r wrote.
The newspaper reported that such hazing is not uncommon in 바카라사이트 country, and that last week a new student at ano바카라사이트r university had died drinking during a welcoming party with more senior students.
