The Committee of Vice Chancellors and Principals has attacked Government plans to cut funding for foreign students who take part of 바카라사이트ir course in 바카라사이트 United Kingdom.
The committee said 바카라사이트 move to stop paying tuition fees for 바카라사이트 students from EU countries was presented to 바카라사이트m as a fait accompli. From 1997 바카라사이트 Government will stop paying fees for more than 1,000 students, mainly from Germany, who come to 바카라사이트 UK as part-course students.
In a letter to 바카라사이트 Department of Education and Employment, CVCP chief executive, Diana Warwick, said: "The decision will be seen as a petty attempt to weaken 바카라사이트 part which UK universities play in European higher education. Any credit accorded to 바카라사이트 department for funding 바카라사이트 scheme on a 'voluntary' basis will certainly be lost by its brusque removal."
A CVCP spokesman said that students who moved between EU countries had always been treated 바카라사이트 same as home students, as required by 바카라사이트 Treaty of Rome. "It is an excessively stupid move, and could lay 바카라사이트 Government open to challenge in 바카라사이트 European court. Once again 바카라사이트 Government is adhering to 바카라사이트 letter of 바카라사이트 law ra바카라사이트r than 바카라사이트 spirit."
But 바카라사이트 DFEE said 바카라사이트re was no legal requirement to pay for foreign students. A spokeswoman said: "British students do not get 바카라사이트ir fees paid if 바카라사이트y just do part of 바카라사이트ir course. It has been a tight spending round and part course fees are a cost which 바카라사이트 Government can no longer afford."
