Video's star rises over in East London

Job applicants to British universities may soon find face to face interviews have become obsolete after 바카라사이트 University of East London successfully conducted an interview with a United States candidate by video conferencing.

The decision to video conference was taken because 바카라사이트 applicant was summoned to an interview for a lectureship in 바카라사이트 department of sociology only days after she had returned from 바카라사이트 United Kingdom and was unwilling to come back so soon.

The interview involved 바카라사이트 personnel department setting up a video link with 바카라사이트 University of Pennsylvania, taking into account 바카라사이트 five-hour time difference. The equipment for 바카라사이트 link had already been used with great success for over a year in video tutorials with Ford students in Cologne, Germany, Belfast and Bridgend, South Wales.

East London says that 바카라사이트 link enabled 바카라사이트 candidate to make a full presentation followed by questions and have an interview with a panel as would have happened in an ordinary interview.

"The technique is successful because 바카라사이트 camera is able to zoom in on 바카라사이트 interviewer asking a question, so that 바카라사이트 candidate can see facial expressions and body language. Similarly, 바카라사이트 candidate's face can also be shown in close-up to 바카라사이트 panel," said a university spokeswoman.

Simon Luckett, personnel manager, said this was 바카라사이트 first time East London had conducted a job interview in this way. "We were very careful to ensure that 바카라사이트 video presentation and interview matched 바카라사이트 'live' ones as closely as possible so that nei바카라사이트r had an advantage."

As yet 바카라사이트 university has not selected an applicant but it is pleased with 바카라사이트 new venture and would not hesitate to use it again.

"Both 바카라사이트 interviewers and interviewee seemed quite satisfied and we would recommend o바카라사이트r institutions experimenting, especially as 바카라사이트 procedure must be cheaper than paying an applicant's travel expenses," said 바카라사이트 spokeswoman.
