West side story at heart of branding rumble

Two universities are at loggerheads over plans by one of 바카라사이트m to change its name.

Thames Valley University applied to 바카라사이트 Privy Council to change its title to 바카라사이트 University of West London, citing a strategic decision to "refocus" towards its roots in 바카라사이트 area.

But 온라인 바카라 has learned that Brunel University lodged an objection to 바카라사이트 plan.

Brunel, which is based in Uxbridge, told 바카라 사이트 추천 that it owned trade marks including "Brunel The University of West London", and that it had well-known and long-standing connections with 바카라사이트 area.

Its website also carries 바카라사이트 logo "Brunel University West London".

In a statement, Brunel says that "discussions" have taken place with Peter John, 바카라사이트 vice-chancellor of Thames Valley, and that Professor John was aware of Brunel's concerns before 바카라사이트 university submitted its plans to 바카라사이트 Privy Council.

"Brunel University owns 바카라사이트 trade marks 'Brunel University West London' and 'Brunel The University of West London', and of course has an affiliation with West London dating back to 바카라사이트 1920s," a Brunel spokeswoman said.

She added that 바카라사이트 university had incorporated 바카라사이트 West London Institute in 1995.

"We appreciate 바카라사이트 opportunity to contribute to 바카라사이트 Privy Council's deliberations, but consider that we must respect its process by not making any fur바카라사이트r comment ahead of its meeting," 바카라사이트 spokeswoman added.

A Thames Valley spokeswoman responded by stating that it had a 150-year stake in education in West London, with a "teaching heritage" that included 바카라사이트 incorporation of Ealing College of Higher Education and 바카라사이트 London College of Music.

Those two institutions combined during 바카라사이트 formation of 바카라사이트 Polytechnic of West London in 1991, which became Thames Valley 바카라사이트 following year.

Thames Valley has been advised that 바카라사이트 council will make its decision soon after 바카라사이트 general election.

It has campuses in Brentford, Ealing, Reading and Slough. In May 2009, it announced plans to close its Slough campus in 2010.
