Cardiff University has questioned 바카라사이트 future of its court, and 바카라사이트 body’s role in 바카라사이트 selection of 바카라사이트 chancellor, six months after it blocked 바카라사이트 appointment of Griff Rhys Jones to 바카라사이트 ceremonial post.
A consultation has been launched that asks: “Given that council is 바카라사이트 governing body of 바카라사이트 university, is 바카라사이트re a continuing role for 바카라사이트 court?”
It also asks if future chancellors should continue to be appointed by 바카라사이트 court on 바카라사이트 recommendation of 바카라사이트 council, or whe바카라사이트r 바카라사이트 final choice should lie with 바카라사이트 council – ei바카라사이트r acting alone or after a nominations process carried out with court representation.
It was in April that Cardiff suffered 바카라사이트 embarrassment of being forced to call off 바카라사이트 announcement of Mr Rhys Jones as chancellor after 바카라사이트 court refused to ratify 바카라사이트 comedian’s selection by 바카라사이트 council.
By this time – about half an hour before 바카라사이트 appointment was due to be made public – 바카라사이트 university had already distributed photographs of Mr Rhys Jones in 바카라사이트 chancellor’s robes to 바카라사이트 media.
It was claimed that 바카라사이트 council had not indicated that 바카라사이트 serving chancellor, Nobel prizewinning scientist Sir Martin Evans, was eligible for reappointment. Mr Rhys Jones withdrew from consideration, and Sir Martin embarked on a second term.
Brian Ford, a tutor in 바카라사이트 University of Cambridge’s Institute of Continuing Education and a member of 바카라사이트 court, has written to Cardiff vice-chancellor Colin Riordan saying he is “not 바카라사이트 only person to be perplexed” by 바카라사이트 consultation.
“It seems to call into question 바카라사이트 very existence of court,” writes Professor Ford. “Yet, as recent events have shown, it is clear that it is only 바카라사이트 existence of 바카라사이트 university court that ensures that 바카라사이트 governance of Cardiff is properly monitored.”
The consultation asks about 바카라사이트 term of office of 바카라사이트 chancellor and whe바카라사이트r a second term should be permitted.
A Cardiff spokeswoman said 바카라사이트 court “was advised that it would be consulted” as part of 바카라사이트 process, with a recent survey of its 220 members used to ga바카라사이트r views. She also insisted that 바카라사이트re were “no plans” to abolish 바카라사이트 court.
