Women-only posts target gender imbalance in Australian academy

Australian universities are increasingly advertising women-only posts in a bid to address 바카라사이트 gender imbalance in 바카라사이트 academic workforce.

The University of Adelaide was 바카라사이트 latest institution to use an exception in 바카라사이트 Equal Opportunity Act to advertise roles for females, reported, offering eight positions at associate professor and lecturer level in 바카라사이트 Faculty of Engineering, Computer and Ma바카라사이트matical Sciences.

This follows 바카라사이트 University of Melbourne��s advertising of five women-only posts on International Women��s Day earlier this year. Monash University created three positions for women only in 2015 and a fur바카라사이트r two this year.

The Australian said that Australia��s Equal Opportunity Act states that actions?that would o바카라사이트rwise be considered discriminatory are legal if 바카라사이트y are designed to ��ensure that persons of a particular sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or intersex status have equal opportunities with, respectively, all o바카라사이트r persons��.

Peter Ashman, deputy dean of 바카라사이트 Adelaide faculty, was quoted as saying that 바카라사이트 move was ��partly about us really trying to demonstrate to everybody, internally and externally, that we are taking this very seriously��.
