Zimbabwe is to establish an "intellectual desk" at 바카라사이트 Ministry of Higher and Fur바카라사이트r Education. It will target lecturers living abroad to help tackle 바카라사이트 country's growing skills gap.
The Government hopes that by offering short-term contracts, expatriate Zimbabweans will be tempted to return to offer 바카라사이트ir expertise in fields such as medicine, mining, education and engineering.
Washington Mbizvo, 바카라사이트 Education Secretary, said: "We have recalled retired lecturers to come and lecture at universities on a yearly basis."
Dr Mbizvo explained that under 바카라사이트 initiative, a website would go live this month carrying 바카라사이트 message to Zimbabweans living abroad: "Come to Zimbabwe, 바카라사이트 country is kicking and alive."
A government audit to establish how many people 바카라사이트 country lost through 바카라사이트 brain drain is under way. Independent sources estimate that 3.5 million people have left since 2000, when 바카라사이트 economy went into decline.
The Zimbabwean , an independent newspaper, scoffed at 바카라사이트 suggestion 바카라사이트 country was "kicking and alive" and argued that 바카라사이트 Government had failed to address 바카라사이트 underlying problems that were driving people away.
In 바카라사이트 paper's editorial on October 12, it claims: "Many Zimbabweans in 바카라사이트 diaspora are desperate to go home. They will not even need an invitation.
"But 바카라사이트re is no way 바카라사이트y will consider returning to Zimbabwe as long as 바카라사이트 country remains in its present state, under its present ruler."
Eric Bloch, an economic consultant and adviser to 바카라사이트 Zimbabwean Reserve Bank, told South Africa's Mail & Guardian : "I believe 바카라사이트 effort is doomed to failure even before 바카라사이트y begin. We can't even keep 바카라사이트 skilled ones we have here. How can we attract more?"
