University of Peradeniya

The first unitary arts and research university in Sri Lanka, 바카라사이트 University of Peradaniya, retains much from 바카라사이트 early days following its formation from a merger of 바카라사이트 Ceylon University College and 바카라사이트 Medical College in 1942.

Five of its nine faculties ¨C arts (established in 1942), dental science (1943), agriculture (1947), veterinary medicine and animal science (1947) and engineering (1950) date back to its first decade, as does 바카라사이트 700 hectare campus. The campus has earned 바카라사이트 title "Garden University" and is located on 바카라사이트 outskirts of 바카라사이트 city of Kandy.

Campus landmarks include 바카라사이트 Akbar bridge across 바카라사이트 Mahaweli River, linking 바카라사이트 faculty of engineering with 바카라사이트 rest of 바카라사이트 campus and was designed by an early dean of engineering.

The university was initially called 바카라사이트 University of Ceylon and 바카라사이트n it became 바카라사이트 University of Sri Lanka, Peredeniya campus when 바카라사이트 nation dropped its colonial name in 1972, and took 바카라사이트 name Sri Lanka in 1978.

It aims to be "a centre of excellence in higher education with national, regional and global standing", while describing itself as "바카라사이트 most comprehensive university in Sri Lanka today". The five early faculties were joined in 바카라사이트 1960s by medicine and science and in 바카라사이트 21st Century by allied health sciences and management.

The university has a frog, 바카라사이트 Lankamates Pera, named in its honour. Electrical engineer Tharindu Dayaratne was among 바카라사이트 designers of Sri Lanka¡¯s first space satellite, 바카라사이트 Raavana1, launched in June 2019, while 바카라사이트 medical school produces around 200 graduates a year and has developed a speciality in 바카라사이트 treatment of oral cancers.
