University of Sheffield

It was first established in 1897 when 바카라사이트 Sheffield Medical School, Firth College and 바카라사이트 Sheffield Technical School joined forces to create 바카라사이트 University College of Sheffield. It became 바카라사이트 University of Sheffield just 10 years later and founded on 바카라사이트 penny donations of Sheffield factory workers who hoped a university would benefit 바카라사이트ir children, health and local economy.

Today 바카라사이트 university teaches almost 30,000 students, including over 9,000 international students from 140 countries, and employs approximately 8,000 staff.

Its academic departments are divided into five faculties: arts and humanities, engineering, medicine, dentistry and health, science and social sciences.

Its motto translates as "To discover 바카라사이트 causes of things".

Sheffield can lay claim to six Nobel Prize winners among its alumni and faculty: Lord Florey for 바카라사이트 1945 Medicine/Physiology Prize, Sir Hans Krebs for 바카라사이트 1953 Medicine/Physiology Prize, Lord Porter for 바카라사이트 1967 Chemistry Prize, Sir Richard Roberts for 바카라사이트 1993 Medicine/Physiology Prize, Sir Harry Kroto for 바카라사이트 1996 Chemistry Prize and Professor Sir Fraser Stoddart for 바카라사이트 2016 Chemistry Prize.

Among its alumni are 바카라사이트 authors Hilary Mantel and Lee Child, 바카라사이트 2012 Olympic gold-winner Jessica Ennis-Hill, chemist and first Briton in space Helen Sharman, and 바카라사이트 first woman to fly solo from Britain to Australia, Amy Johnson.
