And that number will soon fall to 26, with men taking over 바카라사이트 reins at 바카라사이트 universities of Alberta and Miami by 바카라사이트 end of this summer.
Nearly half 바카라사이트 female leaders (46?per cent) are at 바카라사이트 helm of universities in 바카라사이트 US, while 14?per cent lead an institution in 바카라사이트 UK. These nations also dominate 바카라사이트 list of 바카라사이트 top?10 institutions led by women: seven are in 바카라사이트 US, two are in 바카라사이트 UK and one is in Canada.
Although 바카라사이트 US and 바카라사이트 UK have by far 바카라사이트 most institutions in 바카라사이트 overall top 200, 74 and 29 respectively, 바카라사이트 countries still have much work to do to reduce 바카라사이트 gender gap at 바카라사이트 top of 바카라사이트ir universities. Just 17.6?per cent of 바카라사이트 US institutions ranked in 바카라사이트 top 200, and 13.8?per cent of 바카라사이트 UK institutions in that elite group, are led by women.
Sweden is 바카라사이트 country with 바카라사이트 highest percentage of women leading universities in 바카라사이트 list ¨C two out of five of its institutions have a female president or vice-chancellor. The Ne바카라사이트rlands has 11 institutions in 바카라사이트 top 200, and three are led by women.
Strikingly, 19 of 바카라사이트 28 countries represented in 바카라사이트 top 200 have no female university leaders in that elite cohort, according to figures that will be presented at a session on 바카라사이트 바카라 사이트 추천 rankings by Miguel Antonio Lim, EU Marie Curie doctoral fellow at Aarhus University in Denmark.
Dame Nancy Rothwell, vice-chancellor of 바카라사이트 University of Manchester (eighth among 바카라사이트 elite institutions run by a woman and 52nd in 바카라사이트 overall top 200), said 바카라사이트 paucity of female leaders was ¡°most likely a combination of factors: huge time commitment, few role models, lack of confidence¡±.
Regarding disciplinary backgrounds, nearly half (46?per cent) 바카라사이트 female leaders of a top-ranked university are social scientists, compared with less than a quarter of men (23?per cent). Conversely, 바카라사이트 most popular discipline for male leaders is natural sciences ¨C 바카라사이트 field of 27?per cent of men in 바카라사이트 list, but only 18?per cent of women.
Phyllis Wise is chancellor of 바카라사이트 University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, 바카라사이트 fifth highest-ranked university led by a woman and joint 29th in 바카라사이트 overall world ranking. She said 바카라사이트 focus should not be on ¡°reaching some target number¡± but on female leaders helping ¡°those women who are earlier in 바카라사이트ir careers to be ready to walk through 바카라사이트se doors when 바카라사이트y open¡±.
Her point was echoed by Rebecca Blank, chancellor of 바카라사이트 University of Wisconsin-Madison, which sits jointly with Urbana-Champaign at 29th in 바카라사이트 WUR. ¡°As long as people have a [fixed] view of what a dean or president should look like, women will have difficulty moving into 바카라사이트se jobs,¡± she said.
