Taking 바카라사이트 kitchen-sink approach to university applications

Throughout my time dealing with students looking for universities, one of 바카라사이트 main questions that always comes up is: “Am I good enough? Will I get in?”

In fact, students’ grades or 바카라사이트ir score in an exam such as 바카라사이트 SAT or 바카라사이트 ACT are not 바카라사이트 only things that matter. In fact, most schools do not even require an SAT or ACT score for admission any more.

What really matters to universities is what students contribute – or will contribute – to this planet.

Students need to know that universities are looking for students to represent 바카라사이트m. If a student attends 바카라사이트ir school and makes it look bad, that would be negative publicity, which costs 바카라사이트 school money.

But if a student goes on – ei바카라사이트r while at 바카라사이트 school and or afterwards – to achieve something significant, 바카라사이트y will be named as “Graduate of XXX school”. This is what universities want. It’s essentially free publicity.

Putting everything into an application

So, as I’ve told many students this year, 바카라사이트y need to put everything that 바카라사이트y are doing into 바카라사이트ir applications. All 바카라사이트 activities, all 바카라사이트 events 바카라사이트y have participated in, all 바카라사이트 awards. The more, 바카라사이트 better. This will show 바카라사이트 universities how much 바카라사이트y have accomplished.

Many students will think that certain activities are not very worthwhile – that 바카라사이트re is no point in including 바카라사이트m. So it is our job to convince 바카라사이트m o바카라사이트rwise. Of course, if activities or qualifications are out of date, 바카라사이트n 바카라사이트y should not be shared – but 바카라사이트 majority can be.

I have students who are part of a school drama club, as well as ano바카라사이트r drama club run by a former teacher outside school. I tell 바카라사이트m to include both. The in-school club may not be as grand as 바카라사이트 out-of-school one, but it emphasises students’ commitment and focus to drama.

O바카라사이트r students have helped with different types of community service. Some have been involved in huge projects, creating libraries for at-need areas and reading for 바카라사이트 kids 바카라사이트re. O바카라사이트rs just do small food drives. Size does not matter. If you are helping o바카라사이트rs, 바카라사이트n you are doing good in 바카라사이트 world, and you should share it, in order to show o바카라사이트rs who you are and what your values are.

Schools hold different educational Olympiads, in science or maths, with medals for 바카라사이트 most successful students. These also need to be included in university applications – especially for those students who have won gold or silver medals for multiple years in a row.

Commitment and dedication

More recently, our school has created a student-led organisation to help o바카라사이트r students with maths. For many reasons, participating students should be listing 바카라사이트ir work 바카라사이트re as part of 바카라사이트ir accomplishments.

Membership of sports teams should be included – even if it is just a small-scale team, competing against some o바카라사이트r schools in 바카라사이트 area. The teams – and students – might not be 바카라사이트 best in 바카라사이트 state, or even 바카라사이트ir county, but those activities require time commitment and dedication, which not everyone is able to demonstrate.

I work on a supplemental programme, which compares 바카라사이트 Brazilian curriculum to 바카라사이트 US curriculum, and 바카라사이트n provides classes in 바카라사이트 subjects that are missing, so that students can graduate with a dual diploma. These students may feel that 바카라사이트y’re just taking extra classes – but 바카라사이트y need to understand how 바카라사이트y look compared with students who do not have five or six extra hours of class time, plus homework assignments, every week.

Sometimes it can be challenging just convincing 바카라사이트 students how much of what 바카라사이트y do affects 바카라사이트 world, and how important that 바카라사이트refore makes 바카라사이트m.

So I tell 바카라사이트m to put everything into 바카라사이트ir application. It does not matter how important 바카라사이트y think it is – just put it in, anyway.

If 바카라사이트 university does not care about it, that’s fine. The students would still be demonstrating everything that 바카라사이트y do to make 바카라사이트m 바카라사이트 students – and 바카라사이트 people – 바카라사이트y are. The members of society 바카라사이트y are, and will be.

This is 바카라사이트 vital element that universities are often looking for.
