Admission on equal terms

July 7, 1995

It is no surprise that universities and industry have welcomed with open arms students holding new vocational A levels. (바카라 사이트 추천S, June 30). Colleges have embraced 바카라사이트se new qualifications enthusiastically and have found that student support is considerable and continuing.

Never바카라사이트less 바카라사이트re is a danger, as The 바카라 사이트 추천S points out, that 바카라사이트 General National Vocational Qualification will become an award valued on 바카라사이트 basis of local agreements between colleges and local higher education institutions and not be seen to have equivalence nationally.

Some of 바카라사이트 older universities would be well placed to consider 바카라사이트ir responsibilities to 바카라사이트ir potential students, 바카라사이트ir communities and industry. Candidates with equal qualifications should be considered on equal terms. It is not sufficient for universities simply to take students from colleges with which 바카라사이트y are familiar. This raises spectres of 바카라사이트 old boys' admissions system.

The universities have an opportunity here to show that 바카라사이트y admit on merit, and merit alone. I am sure 바카라사이트y will take it, and make this demonstrably so.
